Chevy Corvette Stingray goes high-tech with Performance Data Recorder

I doubt that. There are a lot of people like myself that won't buy it with an automatic, and couldn't care less about any kind of data recording since they would never take it to the track anyhow. I'd be perfectly happy with an "obsolete" 2014.

Other than needing the auto because of my s/o, I wouldn't use the feature either. The car is for long distance trips and Sunday drives.

Exactly! As if an onboard video game is going to make a '14 obsolete. I need a video record of my road course driving about as much as I would need brake rotors the size of garbage can lids, 10 quarts of oil, or a cooler differential. Amazing to see how easy it is for the manufacturer to create the "must have" illusion.

That could be one of the coolest toys ever! After spending who knows how much over the years I tracked my cars on video recorders and lipstick camera lenses, editing software, etc., I would have loved this technology built into my car! And didn't I read you could post direct to the internet? Way to go GM!! That's a home run for a lot of Corvette owners. Not all or even the majority but a whole bunch for sure.

Very cool to have it built in. However I will not worry about it. I have several apps for my Android phone that integrate the phone's video (1080p), GPS (track map), accelerometers (G-Force), and a Bluetooth OBD connection (reads engine data).

Cool feature, won't delay my order 6mo to get it (can do all of that with an app, iPhone)
Interesting they didn't involve the rear camera - would be cool to have two angles.
They'd sell a few thousand upgrade kits to 14 owners if they figured a way to make it upgradable - perhaps a vendor will figure it out and write an app for it.

Yes it is nice to have a built in unit... this wont deter me from getting a 2014. I use Harrys Lap Timer on my iphone every time I go to the track and only advantage I see with this is the RPM overlay and gear selection.

I wouldn't worry too much about it not being available for 2014's, it will be just a matter of time before someone comes up with something to make it work for 2014's.

I think this will be a nice addition, but would still have the GoPro up and running too.

Brilliant strategy for GM.....Should be a high take rate with the posers....
