For me I was 12 years old living in Germany. My Dad was in the Air Force and my sister was dating a F15 pilot who also was the QB of the base football team. He drove a mud 70's Corvette and with the hero worship I already had for him it was a natural transition for me to love his sports car too. Almost bought my first Vette at age 22 however the insurance cost stopped me. Took me till age 37 to buy my first, a 65 roadster I still have. I jokingly refer to it as my Vasectomy Vette as it was in the day of my snipping with a bag of frozen peas in my shorts that I asked my wife if she minded me buying the 65 (my birth year) I found. Since then I've owned two new Vettes, an 04 Le Mans Commemorative Convertible and an 07 Convertible. Sold the 07 last year and bought a Camaro SS (auto) thinking my bad knees and traffic driving would better appreciate a bigger, boulevard cruiser, I was wrong! C7 will join the family some time this year.

The first time I was in one.
My dad sold new cars all his life (Chevy, Pontiac and Chrysler/Jeep).
He brought home the 1972 dealer demo Corvette when I was 7 and I thought that was the best car ever.

I don't remember my age, but the first time I saw a C3 I was hooked.

I drew and cardboard framed a picture of a C5 when I was kid. I still have it. It is on display in my bedroom.

August 31, 2013, when I saw the new C7 in a parking lot at high school football game in Lexington, KY. The sound it made just idling was unforgettable. Whoever drove that from the plant that day, made me a fan forever. Now I have one on order and looking forward to delivery in the spring.

A brand new silver '63 coupe that looked like a spaceship did it for me when I was 12. Then life hit and kids were the first priority. In 2005 a yellow C6 sealed the deal, I became interested all over again. I waited three years and a jsb Z was too much to resist, took it home.
Then came Barrett Jackson with the tr C7 and the C6 had to go to make room.

Well around 1957 2 new fuel injected corvettes pull into a pure gas station. I go over and look them over. I was 14 at the time been hooked ever since. Bought my first used vett a 1967 big block convertible in 1970. It needed everything put a 454/450 in it m22 rock crusher and 411 gears new top and carpet.
It nearly broke me but I still love it till this day the guy who bought from me still has it.

I hate to say I am not in love yet. I have never driven a Corvette and have only sat in a C7 once. I sold my 2014 GT500 based on my first impression and am looking forward to a new relationship with my Stingray. I hope it is all I have heard about.

I saw a 1956 when I was a kid working in a gas station. Remember gas stations? I pumped gas, aired tires and washed windshields...Oh yes and met girls.. Bought my fist Vett in 1966 a 1962 Fawn Beige beauty... I have owned Corvettes longer then I have been married. I got married just after Adam and Eve...LOL

In 1980 when I was 8... Dad bought a 1978 Vette and it was the first time I loved a car. It was unfortunately written off when I was 17. I fell under the German spell for the next 23 years of my life until this past January when the launch of the C7 caused me to fall back in love. I remember seeing the C7 and thinking "finally" and "I need one now".

With the C7 and the coming Z06, I think it will be a long term love affair :thumbs"

When I was a kid my best friend next door his dad always had a Vette . He had a red one and then a yellow one. Both had side pipes. I think the first one was 69 with the small block then the next one had the 454. Both were cool and watching him take off everyday was what made me want one.

I never got to ride in it but my buddy would tell me how it would press you back in the seat.
I wound up with a 69 nova SS 427, 4 speed and 4.56 posi with a .560 lift cam.
That was back when leaded premium was 104 octane. I had. Lot of fun in that car.

Probably since I was around 10. The C2 has come out the year before and the styling was nothing short of beautiful. Took me to age 31 to get one, but as they say, the rest is history.

I think it was when I was about 16 and coming home from my part time job as a dishwasher and next to where I worked was a drive-in restuarant like they had back in the early 60's. I was walking along and watched a Jaguar XKE and a 61 White Vette pull out & line up and then street race up the road. The Vette smoked the Jag and sounded so nice and I said to myself, "One day I've got to get one of those babies!"

Age 11, sitting in red 1962 Corvette convertible (coupes weren't invented until following year) in downtown Holland MI showroom of DeNooyer Chevrolet. Fortunately the salesmen ignored the kid in the Corvette so my fantasy of having one someday could fully develop. Took 21 years but got new C4 in July 1983 and have owned a Corvette ever since. Loved them all,even the hard riding 1984.

I went with my dad to Downtown Chevrolet in Oklahoma City in 1962 to look at a new Impala to replace his '57 Black sport coupe (283, 4bbl, 3 speed). There it was a Red 1962 FI Corvette sitting on the showroom floor. I was hooked! In fact I still have that sales brochure I picked up that day.

1976 - my college buddy had a green C3 with a big-a$$ rat motor. Never drove it, but rode in it a lot. What a hoot - we lived in Daytona Beach and used to cruise up and down the beach.

1963 silver SW just did me in when I was 15 and waiting to get my license . That car was like from outer space it was soooo modern looking. Till this day it makes the Ferrrari GTO look crude in comparison. Guys like Peter Brock and The late Larry Shinoda kept Michell's design clean and functional. The 67 had no fake scoops or add on's that served no purpose. Shinoda called the fake stuff surface entertainment.

There is a great book out by Peter Brock called. Corvette Sting Ray Genesis of an American Icon. Great read from a guy that lived it. He was the youngest designer that GM hired @ the time.

I grew up on Air Force bases (60's-70's), and it wasn't uncommon to see a lot of sports cars owned by the pilots. Back then, green was a very popular color for the Vettes, and I remember always admiring the dark green Corvettes.
