Best $2.49 interior mod ever (IMHO)

I wonder if red thread can be dyed black? I have the red 2LT interior and the thread is all red. It looks great against the black leather and on the dash, but it disappears against the red leather. I'd like to change the color of the thread on the red leather to black.

Anyone with a 2LT Jet Black interior can tell me if the thread is white or otherwise? I can't really tell from the photos at the website

Hey Doc, I gave it a try under the seat on the 3lt. It isn't the same as my '08 car was, maybe the Napa leather is different? You could try under the front of your seat but mine is a no go. I would love for someone to prove me wrong as I think it would look awesome.

Once I get my Night Race Blue - I was going to go over the stitching with Navy.
Yes, Black will work on red stitch.

Some of the seat stitches are tucked in, the dash piece would be a little hard to do also. I'll pick up some fresh markers and try again. Looking forward to seeing how it goes.

I just took a look at the thread in the sunlight and it is very bright and really does look good. I tried a second application on some of the threads, and it made no difference at all. I think it's great as is and feel that a second application would be a waste of time. Happy, happy, happy!

no problem. just buy some light colored thread, restitch the seats in a lighter color, THEN dye it.

As I have been personalizing my C7, I've simply posted most of my mods in my mod thread. But for the money and resulting impact, I felt this one was worthy of a thread of its own.
I wanted my interior stitching to match the car, so I bought a "Stained by Sharpie" Fabric Marker and went to work on the stitching. Of course, I used yellow, but there are a variety of colors available: http://www.sharpie.com/enus/pages/st...y-sharpie.aspx
It took about two hours to transform the stitching. The process involved staining a 4-6 inch section then wiping the excess off the leather with a dry rag. There were no issues at all and it really looks great (the pics really don't do it justice).
Here are the pics (the first pic is of the passenger seat BEFORE being stained).

Only a couple of hours to do the entire interior.
I liked the one that Sharpie makes because the point is so fine and makes it easy to just hit the thread if you're careful. Got it at Hobby Lobby.
