Inquiring minds would use the forums SEARCH as this topic has been beaten to death

I can't answer your question but can tell you this!
I had a couple C6's with the F55 that you could hardly notice the difference when switching between modes!
I also had Z51 & it had No option for the Mag Ride control!
I personally didn't care for the ride!
The new C7 is very noticeable when switching between touring/sport/track!
I went with Z51 even tho I have No plans to track the car!
Love it!

Good question as I would like to know the answer as well. I have a C7 standard suspension and the ride is very good. I would think that the Z51 even with Mag Ride set on touring would still be a little harsher. I say this for a couple of reasons, the Z51 spring rates are higher and have 1 inch less cushion on the tires. Don't know if the more relaxed Touring setting on the shocks can overcome these factors.
I can tell you honestly, that my C7 rides much better than my 427 Convertible with Mag ride on touring.

Been in all 3...
Base is nicest ride for highway
Z51 no mag is acceptable all around
Z51 mag is soft in soft pos but not like base
Bought mine in base for just this reason, when there were no constraints, could not be happier..and it's not a old man Lexus susp, it still carves sport roads fine.....

The standard suspension is no slouch.. it is 1.0 g on the skid pad and uses the same tires and width (although 18" F and 19" R vs. 19" F and 20" R) that come with the Z51 pkg.
BTW...if you look at Tire Rack the OEM tires for non and Z51 C7 are the same price.

I can add to this discussion that magnetic ride control helps greatly to change the personality of the car as you move from Tour to Sport to Track. For me it is part of the great fun of owning and driving the C7. Of course, each owner and prospective owner needs to decide if the cost of Z-51 and mag ride is worth it to them.

The ride is primarily different in non Z51 vs Z51l because of the tire differences. The Z51 is a lower aspect ratio tire, so it has less profile and thus a stiffer ride. The mag ride does help. Plus you get the benefits of all the settings. Fun to play with.

Thank you Glen E.....despite being referred to the search function to wade through 100's of posts about issues involving Z 51s and base C7s, you are the one person who has addressed my specific question. Much appreciated.
