Dashcam suggestions
I'm looking to put a Dash Cam in my C7. Something not too expensive if that's possible.
I would like one that fits between the Mirror and the Windshield so it doesn't block my field of view.
It would have to have an Internal Battery so it would stay on when the Car is parked, since the front Power Point in the Console where I would plug it in only works with the Ignition on.
Nothing fancy. Don't need the GPS, and I don't plan on hardwiring it.
Thanks guys, and gals...

Same here & I haven't seen ANYTHING that's worth my time/money for all the bad reviews. This is something like snake oil, a general fleecing of the early adopters being skinned of any extra coin they may have hidden in their wallets.
We know backup camera have been in use with mass produced vehicles for years now. As well as law enforcement have them mount on their dashes, fire depts. use them mount on their helmets & in both services use them with great success. So WHY no one will produce these for civilian use I can not understand, some individuals are paying MORE these crappy dashcams than our gov't depts. pay for use with their occupations. I have simply refused to pay $300-$400 for a camera which may or may not be in English & has a 50/50 chance of beyond lasting 6 mos.
Now the good news is Garmin will be releasing 2 models Dashcam at the end of March, you can go to their website & read the details, can't remember was the model#'s are. I have real hopes these Garmin units might fit the bill.

Installed this a week ago in my truck and absolutely love it! Video quality is excellent, front is 1080 and rear is 720p. Isn't cheap but it works great!

For my road trip back from the NCM on March 5, I just purchased this dual car camera off Amazon for $70
Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Sensor-Video-C...owViewpoints=1
Figure can't go wrong for that amount , and video quality is really goof at 720p ..
If holds up, I will have the power permanently hooked in vs power adapter

I've had a Lukas 7900 since September 2013 with no problems and some pretty nice video. Korean made. It mounts with EZPass plastic velcro onto the headliner right in front of my rearview mirror. It doesn't impede my vision since it is literally in front of the mirror. I snaked the cord through the cabin to the hatch plug. Bought the optional power supply so it doesn't drain the battery. I have switched it back and forth (additional cord) to my truck since the weather's been a little snowy here, so it's really portable too.

All this was covered a few months ago on this forum. go back and search for it.
You need:
- HD front and back to read licence plates.
-GPS
-built in screen is useless
-Battery cut off module so it doesn't drain battery and they will
- use a stand alone camera front and a separate stand alone for the back
-lights are useless
There is more but do a search.

When I do set it up for the C7 I'll have to get power from the back of the car like people are saying is necessary.
As far as recording mode during parking, mine shuts down when parked. I did not get the extra module to run it with the car off.

The software allows the image to be flipped so it's not too bad.

The one you have here is in the running. I'm also talking to a guy that owns a Tint Business that does Dash Camera installs. Of course, he is suggesting a higher end unit. Start out simple, end up complicated.
Not sure when I'll pull the trigger, but thank you for your suggestion.
