Thinking about picking up a C7 with the transparent roof, but really prefer the painted roof.

Does this type of trade happen often, or do most people prefer the painted roof?

I have seen a couple of posts recently where folks want to make the same trade as you do, from transparent to painted. If I remember correctly, it is because of how hot the inside of the car gets.

I traded the transparent top that came with my car with local member who had the same color C7 and got an additional $500 towards the trade which was fair for both of us. I then painted the center section of the roof carbon flash metallic to go with the rest of the trim and still had a few hundred left.

I have a red top and won't be parting with it, but I know others might.

I had a trans top on one of my C6 coupes and MAN did it get hot in the summer. Unreal. Trans tops are easier to buy later than a matching body colors also

You can buy them through your dealer but THEY paint them, not the factory, so you run the risk of it not matching. I bought one for the C6 that I had the trans top, and the dealer had the stones to paint the B pillar also (to blend it out) without asking me first. I was so PISSED. Never went back...

If you're successful you should buy a lotto ticket too .
I ordered my TR and standard 'painted' roof knowing two things. How hot the tinted roof would make it and how good it looks in solid TR.

When I want the 'sky' vision, I just put the roof in it's cradle in the back .
