Very disappointed about price increase
Late last year I made arrangements with my dealer to purchase a 2015 Stingray Coupe and have a museum delivery a week prior to the Labor Day Celebration. Recently I have learned that the 2014 model year will be built up through 8/8/2014 instead of late June, 2014. I suppose that GM did this to pump up their delivery numbers. It is now almost impossible for me to take delivery a week before the Celebration. A major disappointment for me and some friends. Now GM raises their prices, fairly substantially, in the middle of a production year because of demand (or because they can). I always thought GM would do the right thing. That is, make a fair profit and move on. This is taking advantage. I didn't desert them when things were not going well for them. I bought a 2008 Z06 and a 2010 ZR1 new. I am rethinking my purchase of the 2015 Stingray.

It is all about the money, GM is doing what any smart company would do and taking advantage of supply and demand.
As for your purchases in the past if you move on due to the price increase someone else will be there to take your place. Cold facts.

If the museum delivery date is really that important to you, why not just go ahead and order a 2014? I thought about waiting for a 2015, but decided having a Stingray one model year newer is really not going to make much difference in the long run.

2015 C7 of the Year Finalist
GM should have a loyalty program for Covette owners, the more vettes you owned the larger the loyalty bucks.
I believe Gm brought out the C7 at a low price,to get interest in the new model and will continue to raise the price each year.

It's a minimum $5000 dollar less resale value difference in the long run. Why would anyone buy a 14 at this point when 15's can be ordered in a few months? The 15 will also have newer updates etc. Chevy lost my potential order this year as well, and they left me wondering if I should just go purchase something else. $3000 is a tough chunk to swallow for nothing extra in return in middle of MY. Just my opinion, no argument needed.

Wow! That would be great...I bought 12 new ones and 21 used ones over the past 42 years.....I would be able to get one for almost nothing!

...and we'll be picking up where the last thread left off.
I can appreciate your disappointment.
They are not 'taking advantage', they are running a business that is responsible to their shareholders. Profit is key.
And those that want a C7 will either buy one or not. Never fun to pay more, but it's not that much more, and there is NOTHING on the market even close to the price. Tesla raised prices mid cycle last year, and their sales soared.
If I where you, I'd buy a 2014 before the 2015 price increase--which my guess is at least $3-5K more.

Also there is a thread from a forum dealer still taking orders and honoring the old price....I suggest not missing the second boat if you are really interested in getting one.

Man, I am glad I pulled the trigger on the 14 even thought it was msrp. Plus I got to get all the new reaction from the public that I am not sure is going to be there 2015 well least because I am driving my car everywhere.

At a $51,995 base price, the C7 Coupe was priced incredibly low! One just has to look at a '13 C6 1LT Coupe in comparison to the '14 C7 1LT Coupe. There was only $1400 difference between MSRP. One has to just look what the C7 offers over the C6 for that small amount. I think it was purposely priced low to get the sales going after the lean years of sales from 2009-2013.
Even with the $2000 increase in base price and the $1200 additional charge on the Z51 pkg. It is still a bargain...nothing compares to it at that price.

Actually what is disappointing is the conduct of the average Corvette owner or potential owner to the price increase. Yesterdays thread was unbelievable and although it was closed it really brought out the true colors of this board.
My main concern with buying a Corvette is the general perception of "The Corvette Owner" I was hoping things changed but from that display there are enough bad apples that really give this board and Corvette in general a tainted reputation. Its a great car but it threads like that one that brings it down a few levels.
It was embarrassing.
I don't want this thread to turn negative, i wish this could have been added to the bottom of yesterdays thread as a last post. Or maybe the administrator should have had some similar closing words to the offenders. Embarrassing.
Edit: maybe this post doesn't belong here but I had to speak my peace. Please feel free to remove or relocate it.

Wow, again...the other thread was closed after 700+ posts, is there really anything left to say that hasn't been already? The price increase happened, and so will another one with MY15, can't change it, time to move on...

Those that were savvy enough and willing to 'take the gamble' on paying MSRP, saw the value in the car as it was priced originally.
They got rewarded in two ways 1) Got to drive their cars and enjoy them; 2) Saved on the price increase.
Those that will buy the C7 moving forward are still getting a complete bargain for the price. Again, 2015 will be even higher, so those that want to get one without another price increase should get to ordering or buying.
