Leave them AS IS and put on display in another section with video footage of the incident, write ups, damage estiomates, etc. Make it a museum exhibit.

^That's exactly what they are going to do. They're even going to have a write up about sinkholes and how they form, etc. This will be a temp exhibit til early August, I'm told.

Aside from the 1 millionth, 1.5 Millionth, and the Pace car, I agree. The damage is part of the history of those cars, and part of the history of the National Corvette Museum.

I'm planning a trip down to see the sinkhole Corvettes. I agree, the sinkhole is a part of the history of these cars...sadly, I think the PG Pace Car is done for. The others need mostly cosmetic updates, but seems the frames were all good. The pace car clearly has some bigger issues.

I'm going up late next month for the Bash and really looking forward to seeing them on display. Then hopefully the next time I return they'll be back as good as new and back in the same dome .

Once they replace all of that stuff, you have to wonder how much of the original car will be left.

Actually, the other side of the Pace Car is not as bad.
One amazing fact is that the cars were lifted out of the dirt using straps on 2 wheels - the front ones, or 2 on 1 side. Even more amazing is that the last 2 were so buried they could only get a strap on 1 wheel. When free, they laid them down upside down and attached another strap for the removal. That says a lot about the strength of all the components of the Corvette!

I suspect he's hiding under his bed.
Some good work going on there, in spite of all the earlier snide comments about union workers. Kudos to those workers for their accomplishments so far!
I do like the idea of creating a display showing the progression from collapse to rescue, and I'll go out on a limb here, and suggest that it might not even be necessary to "restore" the cars

I hope they restore all of the cars, however from the looks of the pictures the pace car will not have many original parts. After restoration a few victory laps around the track should be accomplished. Just because!!

Really a sad sight to see some of those cars in that shape. The display should be interesting and I may have to try and get to the museum to see the cars before they go for restoration. I hate to think what the other three are going to look like.
Good luck to GM in bringing these cars back to life.

Bob,
May I ask where you got these great photos? I've watched the Webcams everyday, looked at the museums You-Tubes and scoured the media, but never have seen anything as good as these. Thanks for posting!
