Manual trans perk: Quick "Valet Mode" when in Reverse
Quick share: I stumbled on a nice perk of the manual transmission this weekend: a quick "valet mode" of sorts...if you keep valuables behind your infotainment screen, with the top off/down, the touch screen can not be lowered when manual transmission is put in Reverse.
Even if someone knows there is a hidden compartment behind the screen, and willing to reach in for it, they may not be aware that the screen lowering functionality is deactivated when's the transmission is set in reverse.

Given a few minutes once the car is off, the screen WILL go down even while the transmission is in reverse. I do it all the time. The first couple minutes after the car has shut off, the screen won't go down. But after a couple of minutes, the screen goes down no problem. Leave it down and start the car, the screen automatically recalls back up.

This isn't a lasting solution.

You could wire in a simple hidden toggle switch to interrupt the power to the screen dash switch...Wouldn't be hard....Except the part about pulling the dash to gain access to the wiring..

Nice to note all the posts about "carry guns" being in Corvettes. Best place for one, no doubt! Just make sure the other actors in that action-adventure film you're in are on the same page, especially the cops who read this forum.

My gun is for my protection. In my state its legal to carry with a CWP, which I possess. So no need for them to know or make anything out of it unless they are pulling me over and at that point I would disclose for their protection and my own ;-)

I actually got off with just a warning (for speed) once because of my CCW

Depending which weapon I'm carrying, either in the center console or on the floor, in front of my seat (in its paddle holster and it doesn't slide around).
Behind the screen is too slow to get to if needed not to mention its rattling around.....
