My long overdue Museum delivery post
So I’m finally getting around to writing up my recent museum delivery story. I know it’s long over due (3/28 pickup). First off thanks to Wes Milby at Reliable Chevrolet, what an easy buying experience, and amazing how he was able to get my order in at the exact time needed to make my R8C pickup available for a spring break road trip from Kentucky to SoCal in my new stingray!
She’s a NRB Z51 coupe with 2LT Kalahari, NPP, Mag Ride, and A6 (I know it’s my daily driver in SoCal traffic).
Anyway the museum delivery is really an awesome experience and I would recommend it; they really know how to make you feel like royalty. I especially enjoyed the personalized plant tour and our guide Thomas was very knowledgeable. However, by the time we finished the tour and were back for the museum tour of that also and then a thorough walk through of the car the day did begin to drag on a little. Mainly because at that point all I really wanted to do was go drive it!
So it all started with a red-eye to Nashville (via Detroit)… And finished up with a million smiles by me over 3,144 total miles… 135 gallons of premium gas… A marathon 12 hour drive day (San Antonio to Tucson)… 11 nights out on the town… 10 memorable cities... 9 gas station stops… 8 different states… 7 days of vacation days used… 6 stops for BBQ… 5 Bourbon distilleries visited… 4 different time zones… 3 state capitol buildings… 2 great co-pilots along the way… And one unforgettable 41st birthday with by brother in Austin.
What an unreal road trip that I will never forget with only one black eye (and not mine). There was only one small issue with the car the entire trip and I was lucky enough it happened only about 10 miles outside of Bowling Green. My passenger front tire pressure sensor went out. Anyway I drove her back to the museum and the PDI staff took care of getting me a whole new wheel and reprogrammed it up for me pretty quickly.
Some pics from along the way:
