I will be picking up my C7 Z51 Laguna Blue in may, driving back to Texas. I am concerned about getting paint dings before I get back to get the car wrapped. Any suggestions?
I believe that the Museum could arrange for XPEL clear bra installation prior to delivery, but there seemed to be some quality issues in the application. Would check with Lori on what the museum can offer.
Unless they've just re instituted the service you no longer can have XPEL installed by the museum. I had it scheduled (tool museum delivery the 4th of April) and they contacted me two weeks ahead and let me know that due to quality issues it was no longer offered. I have seen a couple of threads about people going to Nashville and getting their car done before the drive home. I rolled the dice and drove mine 940 mikes home (also back to Texas) and maybe was lucky but had no problems and received no damage. I'm not sure I will spend the money on XPEL at all now. Good luck, enjoy the museum delivery!
I have been reading about cleartastic on the forum and how easy it is to self install, 30 min app, they sell kits may take on with me and give it a try, leaning towards driving without it. I wrapped my 2013 GS $1700, ouch don't know if its worth that again. It will be my dd though.
Thanks for the input Guys.

I picked mine up at the Museum and drove it all the way home (in an snow storm!) to Vegas in 4 days taking the long route (about 2200 miles). Drove straight from Texarcanna to Dallas to El Paso.
I only had one small little thing on the lower valence below the passenger door (think something came up and chipped it). No biggee-- easy to fix.
I personally would not worry about it. Just drive and have it detailed when you get there.
BTW the Museum pick up was worth it.

I am picking mine up on the 1st from the museum and will also be driving back to Texas. I'm thinking about taking the Natchez Trace Parkway route. I've heard good things about that trip.
I bought a roll of the white vinyl transport film 2' wide x 200' long to protect the front and side areas from road rash. I will let you know how it goes. It cost about $75. Of course I will have lots left over. I would be willing to send the left over to you free of charge if you are interested. Send me a pm.
I havent figured out how to PM but i would defiantly love to here about you trip back I live in the Dallas area, you?
Go to Quick Links near the top of the page and you will see "Private Message". Then near the left you will see "Send New Message"You would enter my screen name C7JET as the recipient.
I'm in the Austin area.
I'm also new to the forum and learning all the features.

...
See my thread My NCM Delivery and Trip Home which includes some photos along Natchez Trace Parkway. I did NCM delivery on February 13 and drove the entire length of the Trace. Drove to Dallas area without ever getting on an Interstate.
I am at the factory for the buyer's tour this week and will be coming back for museum delivery. NCM will not install xpel or tint windows prior to delivery, or after for that matter. I can't speak for museum delivery yet, but the buyers tour is an absolute must if you can get the time to come to bowling green twice as they will not let you take the car for at least 2 weeks after it is completed. I watched my chassis go from start to finish, even got to engrave the VIN on my engine. An amazing process to watch the car be built and to see the dedication of the workers. Given the choice of the two, I would prefer to ship to my dealer and do the buyers tour over just taking a museum delivery, it's also $200 less than the museum delivery option as well.

The only installer in Nashville does it in his dedicated, air filtered, climate controlled garage. I have been to his house and inspected his work. I will be taking my car directly from NCM to his garage for a full wrap. He must have the car for 48 hours to get a full wrap or 24 hours for the front clip or less. Proper cure time in a stable temperature is critical for xpel. The cost for a complete wrap is about $3900. Rudy used to own a body shop and has been applying paint protection film for several years, also more importantly has experience as he has already done installs on a number of stingrays. Auto Armor is the company and they are listed on the xpel site as an authorized installer in Nashville. If you call your local authorized installer you will get quotes in the ballpark, but once you drive it home, the virgin paint may already be soiled, depending on your luck and road conditions. I will be calling today bro set up the buyers tour, thats exactly what I wanted to see, the actual car being built. Can you get a video of that process? Tks for the info
Drove home from BG a year and a half ago...900 miles and not a mark.
I have taken three cars home from NCM back to Houston without a mark. There is a risk of marks anytime you drive it anywhere so worrying about a 900 mile trip is way overblown.
