Cool, thanks for the reply. I didn't figure I'd be that lucky. How does it work on the C7? Does it power off instantly with the ignition or is it timed?

I'm thinking about upgrading from my Redline to the Max and then pre-ordering the Blendmount since it looks like it should be released soon.

Thanks for the answer. I will go with the lighter.

It lights off pretty much immediately on ACC or RUN

Nice! I was hoping it powered off right after the ignition. On my C6 the cigarette lighter would stay powered even after shutting the vehicle off.

Since this thread is about detectors and clean mounting solutions I wonder if anyone has tested
this this
Escort mount on a C7? They also make one for the
V1 V1
.

Edit: While reading through some of the feedback I'm came across this.

I'll quote the feedback so you don't have to scan through that page to find it:

So this might be a cheaper alternative than the Blendmount. Now I'm just wondering how good the quality is.

Not wanting to sick anything to the dash or have the coiled cord dangling over the dash, I found that a thin material will slip under the dash trim in front of the steering wheel. I used some thin fiberglass circuit board material. Cut it slightly bigger than the opening and it will slip in from the open side. Make sure the edges are smooth so nothing gets scratched. The friction fit is very solid.

I added some Velcro and a spacer under one end of the detector to level it. The hardwired cord travels from the detector under the dash pad, exits a hole on the left side to go under the dash, and goes over to the console where it is tapped into the accessory plug-in hot lead. There is a ground stud under the cupholder.

The positioning is great. I can still see the HUD and my eyes don't need to look away when the detector goes off. I need the detector in other vehicles so, the Velcro makes removal easy and nothing has been permanently altered. The main drawback is it is in plain view. Still looking at other options but from the drivers seat this works really well.

UPDATE: Finally had a sunny day here in Wisconsin. With the rake of the windshield there was a lot of reflection of the radar detector on the glass. Somewhat annoying. The dark section leading to the HUD eliminates reflections. Still looking for other options and reports on the new Blendmount.

Bad Spot to mount. These need a open rear look!

This is what I did. It took 45 minutes.

Note, you do not have to pull up the entire console to get power. I pried up the console just enough to get to the rear cigarette lighter socket wiring. I used the rear cigarette (the one that you use from inside of the console) and tapped that for the power. Through the console, under the front carpet up the passenger A pillar, over the window header (Had to drop the visor (3 screws and done)) over to the center and out for the V1. Easy peasy!

Looks great, sits perfectly under the mirror. This is the way to mount it as THIS WILL STOP MIRROR vibration that the blendmount will cause. That shake drove me nucking futz on my C6.

I think radar detectors and laser detectors and jammers are going the way of the dodo bird. Or perhaps I should say WAZE of the dodo bird.

Waze is a new smart phone app that warns of police ahead 1/2 mile before you get there.

Just be a good social community member and flag them when you see them.

See this is Youtube video:

the link was on the first page. you have to by the two pieces separately....its the first piece and the 4th in the list.

the Ball is the first piece, and the socket is the 4th. total: $24.90

http://www.pro-fit-intl.com/shopaccessories.htm

then all you will need is the Mirror Tap for the power.

IMO - This looks like the cleanest set up for the C7. I have a real issue with the price of the Blendmount. It's not because I can't afford it, but it's highway robbery due to the Corvette Tax.

I've got the blendmount and wiretap with my Passport 9500ix and I love the clean look. You can get some of your "Corvette Tax" back using this 12.5% discount link

I agree....$130.00 plus shipping for a Blendmount is insane.

I have been using the below mounts for years. They are so much easier to install and adjust than Blendmount, cost $100.00 less and work perfectly!

I have put one of these on all my cars. I love how the adjustments have wingnuts on them. No messing around with hex wrenches. They make them for all detectors.

That looks similar to the blendmount, nice find! I still have my misgivings about that design. The fact that it hangs on the mirror is too similar to the blendmount and the blendmount vibrated my mirror to fuzz up my view in the mirror. The blendmount actually had an extension with a pad to wedge against the windshield to stop the mirror vibration but it didn't seem to stop all the vibration. The vibration is what changed me to the ball and collar mount that I use now (see post #46). The V1 snugs up perfectly under the mirror without touching it and I'm not driven nucking futz by the blurry mirror.

It is also in the $25 range for parts

I bought the Great Lakes mount and there is no vibration of the mirror. My issue is the angle of the mirror so I can see out the back window has the V1 pointing slightly to the right (forward view) which might not effect it's accuracy but it does bother me because it's not square to the windshield or back window.

Mounted my Passport Max high to the right of the mirror. Also wired to fuse 37 in the back but looks like a lot of folks are using a mirror tap that would work as well. Note I used the Escort supplied "sticky mount"and added a tether just in case!
Tapping the rear fuse with an Add-A-Fuse sounds difficult but is very easy as the wire just tucks under the side floor and rear molding. You also get a fused wire the whole way. Much easier than messing with the console and taping the back of the receptacle plug IMO. Fuse 37 is the one for the console receptacle that turns off with the engine. Also taping the mirror is not as easy as it was in my C6. A number of Forum threads show how.

I'd be careful ordering the Blendmount for the Passport Max, there have been reports of it not working for 6 months and folks have tried prototypes they were sent, some worked some still had no or intermittent GPS. Without GPS the Passport Max is not worth the price! I'd wait until enough folks say their fix works. Also check with Escort to see what their techs say. They will probably offer as they have with other units when they are sure they work and won't be taking them back!
See my post #59 on where I installed mine using their supplied "sticky mount." The receptacle on the console is powered by fuse 37 in the rear where I connected mine. It shuts off with the engine.
