William,

Thanks for monitoring this issue. No reason for you to get involved at this time, unless you want to notify GM of the possible design and/or manufacturer flaw. Based on the responses to this thread, I am not the only one having this issue. My car has less then 200 miles on the odometer.

I stopped by the dealership today and they have ordered the necessary parts. If the leather had been a little longer, this would have been a non-issue. Passenger side seat is fine (so far).

Thanks
John

My driver's seat looks exactly like the OP's photos, the passenger's seat is fine (so far). I first noticed this at under 200 miles. My car is a 1Lt.

That part of the seat is not leather I believe even with a 3LT. It is coated vinyl and the coating is flaking off. Certain chemicals can cause this to happen.

Is it coated vinyl or vinyl coated? Either way, how do you know this?

Only the seating surfaces or parts that your butt touches are leather in 1LT, 2LT and 3LT. The only difference is in the quality of the leather. If 100 % of the seat was leather we would be paying a lot more for the seats.

none of it is leather, even in the 3LT, where the lotion you use matters..it is finished leather with a plastic coating...do the test talked about there:

Great link.
I think a lot of people will be disappointed to learn of this.

While I wouldn't say this issue has become widespread like the orange peel, this is a little troubling that it's happening on so many cars. Simply getting it replaced won't ensure it isn't going to happen again.

Sad to see new problems popping up with the C7. No way the seat leather should pull loose or have peeling problems on basically a brand new car. You wouldn't expect to see something like that unless the car had a lot of miles on it. Hope GM will reevaluate the quality of the seat material and find a way to keep the leather from pulling loose.

Hello, I just got my LT 1 and the bottom,on the drivers side of the seat, seems to be cut to short in with ?, the outside stiches are not wide enough, very hard and are pushing on the seat frame. Do you have insight on this issue

This is what my passenger side seat leather looks like, 2LT car VIN 5109018.

If this thread wouldn't have been here I never would have discovered this flaw or defect.

Am adding this to my pre and post delivery checklist. I have a 1LT on order, but my build date isn't likely until June or July. Maybe they will have found and fixed the problem by then.

That's not good for a new car... normally that's something you may see after a few years of use.
Indy 28,

I took delivery on my C7 on 1O/16/13. Shortly thereafter & very few miles driven, I experienced the same seat leather issue as yours, same location on driver's seat, 3LT, same color. I contacted my dealership. They ordered a replacement seat back cushion & replaced it under warranty. I presently have 7500 miles on my C7 & to date the leather is doing fine.

Default Peeling C7 seat leather

Indy 28,
I experienced the same seat leather issue on my C7 as you are. I took delivery of my C7 on 10/16/13. Shortly thereafter & after very few miles driven, I noticed the peeling on the driver's seat at same area of your seat. My interior is also 3LT & same color as your interior. My dealership ordered a replacement seat back cushion & replaced it under warranty. I presently have 7500 miles on my C7 - to date the replacement seat cushion is holding up fine.

Yes, didn't we talk at the Corvette Expo in Houston? Happy to hear you've had no trouble since the replacement.
