Why did Chevy not put Z51 on car, but they put Z71 on truck?

The current Fast List has a "non-Z51" as the leader of the pack.

Actually, Snorman has a z51, but he knows how to drive and he ran in great air at ATCO, one of the fastest tracks in the country.
If you gave him a non-z51 he would probably turn the same time.
Z51 autos have 2.73 rear and non-z51 like mine have 2.56, the z51 has slightly more weight and the non-z51 has a softer suspension, pretty much a wash.
Either way, the car is a 11 second performer

Yes, I think you're right. I was trying to make the case for this option based on how the car will be driven, and not because everyone is doing it or because the wheels look cool. There's lots here about how wonderful the Z51 option is, but almost nothing about the tradeoffs, and there are downsides, especially as a DD.

When I bought a New 1979 Crovette it had L82 on both sides of the hood.

First thing I do on all of my cars after driving them home from the dealership, is to remove ALL of the dealers' name badging/stickers & their cheap plastic license frames...

Explain to us how you paid $35K more for a Z51. Many non-Z51 owners with loaded up cars paid considerably more than the cost of a 1LT Z51. Moreover, many non-Z51 owners did not want all the performance stuff that comes with the Z51 because they have no plans to track their cars. There are a fair number of Z51 owners who liked the appearance of the Z51 and That's why GM now offers a ZF1 option.

If you are going to put one on, remove the do not put it on top of the stingray emblem. It does not look good, too busy.

Badges usually denote a model as in Grand Sport, 427 Convertible, Z06, ZR1. Z51 was and still is a Performance Handling Pkg. It has been an option since 1984, included in the GS's and now it seems for the first time in 30 years it is being called a model. So maybe if it is in fact a model, maybe it should have the Z51 badge. BTW...I still consider Z51 to be an option not a model of Corvette.

The Z51 Performance Package adds larger wheels (19-inch front, 20-inch rear vs. 18/19- inch) with Michelin Pilot Super Sport ZP summer-only tires, a dry sump oil system, electronic limited slip differential, larger front brakes (13.6-inch vs. 12.6-inch) with slotted rotors, performance gear ratios, special suspension components, differential and transmission cooling and an aerodynamic package to reduce lift and improve high-speed stability. Chevy's trick Magnetic Selective Ride Control is optional on the Z51.

This thread reminds me why I rarely frequent this forum anymore and why so many people feel the way they do about Corvette owners.

After seeing an Artic White coupe with that badge, I thought it would represent a unique look. Then I decided not to go with it, for the reason I removed the "Corvette" badge in the rear and replaced it with "Stingray" badge. Which is the major focus for this new generation.

Ok how about a small badge ( I own a Z-51) put on the front grill that you could take off if you didn't like it !!! If you're joe public they can't tell if its a Z-51 or not and I've been to all corvette shows and even other owners ( non-C7) asked me if it was a Z51 !!!!Wayne
