before you jump at blacking out taillights, remember it's not the law you have to be scared of...it's the lawyers - someone rear ends you and they can WIN as you had impaired safety equipment. It has happened in the legal world. And it'll be your fault and then the nuisance lawsuits start as you gave him/her a bad neck, impaired sexual functions, etc...I'm not kidding...I went to my tint shop a couple years ago and they would not do it as the case just happened in Broward county and the tinter was named....

see what they say on a cop forum:

http://forums.officer.com/t166019/

I want to do this mod, but I won't due to litigation:

Glen.. come on.. you know what I do for a living

I probably won't do it anyway.. not sure how it'd look unless they were totally blacked out, which I wouldn't do.

I actually like the red of the rear lights myself, but even if I wanted todo this mod based on what Glen has posted I think I'd hold off. Not worth the risk...for me.

From the officer.com forum:

"LOVE stopping these. Citation every single time. "

You also have to consider what you are doing to your visibility in inclement weather.

I assume you bought into the "pre-sale" black out kit... If so, you should know that they have been running that pre-sale for several months now. I can't help but wonder if that product is "vaporware".. You could very well be waiting a long long time.

You are correct the red of the rear lights at night is nice..but our roads at night are all lite,so there is no risk here in kuwait...it comes down to taste,i have seen them for a while & had my doubts but i just ordered them..we will just have to try them.i will do a comparison pic when installed in the dark for you guys that worry it might be a risk on dark roads

Not to discourage you but here is a thread that was started back in Feb about people waiting for these after pre-ordering them.. As I said, you could be waiting a long time...
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c7-g...blackouts.html

If I am not mistaken, GS Creations posted here several months back about pre-ordering these.

Good luck with that. Their add is pretty clear and I'd be surprised that you would even get an accurate shipping date based on the history or lack of from this company on this product.

Per the ebay listing:
"At this time we do not have a release date on this kit"

I've never understood why somebody wants to reduce the visibility of their taillights (side marker lights, DRL's, etc.). Sure, it may look cool, but I'd much rather be easy to spot by other less than attentive motorists than have "cool looking" taillights (or whatever lights).

I can see the DRLs, since NHTSA studies have shown they don't really do anything. The rest could be an issue with night driving, or daylight braking.

It's not a matter of how well lit roads are or aren't. Those cover are extremely dark based on the photos. The end result will likely cut the visibility of your tail lights by more than 50% which can get very dangerous or worse, very expensive if you are rear ended. A driver behind you will likely not even see your brake lights light up from any reasonable distance during the day.

Normally, rear end collisions are always the fault of the person who hits from behind. If you are rear ended with blacked out tail lights, the fault will most certainly be on you.

Personally, I love the blacked out tail lights but I've decided to wait until the Z06 tail lights become available which shouldn't be too long out. My life and financial well being are not worth risking for a set of cheesy tape on tail light covers or rattle can spray on tinting.

As for pay pal, when you don't receive the parts by the end of July, it will be too late for a dispute as Paypal only allows 30 days to dispute a transaction if I am not mistaken. Also, since this is a pre-order, I don't think you can dispute it anyway. Just be prepared to wait.. And wait and wait.
