If it looks brand new, you probably don't have to change it. If the manual says every 5k but when you change the oil it comes out pretty clear looking wait longer next time. No need to change it if the oil is still looking AND SMELLING fresh.

Oil lubes, cools, and CLEANS.
My 911's all took 11 quarts and that was 30 years ago. (although those were air cooled).

I agree but warranty says 5k, plus they do the oil change and inspect the car and detail it for right at a hundred bucks, a good deal for me.

Twin diesels on my boat take a total of 24 quarts so I guess it's all relative.

The manual says to trust the oil life monitor for the proper interval, or at least once a year. These cars should get more than 5k between changes unless driven in extremely harsh conditions.

He's talking about his Lesus. It may have a different warranty. My dealer recommends every 5000 miles, but says I can go with the oil monitor and still be under warranty. I am opting to go with his recommendation. Why? Just because.

Cheap insurance and piece of mind... COSTCO running sale on Mobil 1 (about $27 for six pack) and a $5 ACDelco filter...

I may have to get some for my other cars. I let the dealer change the oil in the C7. That way, if it leaks into the air handler again, it's their fault.
