If it looks brand new, you probably don't have to change it. If the manual says every 5k but when you change the oil it comes out pretty clear looking wait longer next time. No need to change it if the oil is still looking AND SMELLING fresh.

Too many Americans never check their oil. With some cars now having 10k-15k oil change intervals, cars were running out of oil. Manufacturers are now increasing oil capacity by a few extra quarts for insurance. So the negligent owners are less likely to blow their engine, all the rest of us just have to buy more oil.

I agree but warranty says 5k, plus they do the oil change and inspect the car and detail it for right at a hundred bucks, a good deal for me.

The manual says to trust the oil life monitor for the proper interval, or at least once a year. These cars should get more than 5k between changes unless driven in extremely harsh conditions.
