Need OEM Brake pads (I think)
After 4 20 min sessions at PBIR, my tires looked kinda' shredded.
I can live with that until I actually need them.
More on point of this post:
However, several months have passed and now the car shudders from 55 - 60 mph on moderate to heavy deceleration. The hood actually bounces up and down to a slight degree.
I am not going to go to GM and seek warranty assistance, as I feel since I have tracked the car, I am responsible. Rotors look ok, no burn spots or such. So I am guessing it's the pads. I am not sure if fronts or rears need replacement, so I will replace both.
Search function has yielded everything but stock pad numbers. GM Parts warehouse only has up to 2013 for Corvette Parts.
So.......where can I find a decent price for the stock GM pads. I'll replace them myself also.
Thanks guys.

Sure sounds like warped rotors. There is no way to tell unless they check them out. Bad pads would not cause a vibration.
I do not think a hard day of racing would hurt the pads.
If your car is not a Z51 then it must be the rotors as my C6 non Z51 warped after just a dozen or so hard stops. had them cut down a little and the original pads were fine.
My car shuttered so bad I could make a milk shake in the car!

Thanks for all the help guys. It is a Z-51. I do not think that all four rotors could be warped and it's probably just the fronts. Perhaps I'll take it into the dealer and see what they can determine.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

I suspect rotors also but if you want a set of OEM pads, I have them. 1,800 miles on them, 1,350 of which were driving back from delivering dealer, (interstate stuff). Am going to go with ceramics to avoid the dusting bit of the stock pads. Mine is a Z51 but think they are the same as non Z51's? Email me if interested; gbjerke@aol.com

Normal wear and tear such as brake pads wouldn't be covered anyway. But don't be afraid to track it, as long as you don't mod anything (that GM can say caused the failure) as the warranty doesn't necessarily stop when you go on the track. GM will still warranty a stock power train.

I strongly suspect one or more warped rotors. Take it to a reliable mechanic and get the runout checked on the rotors. If the rotors are warped you can have them turned which will cure the shuddering and shaking while braking for a while. However, my experience is the problem will return sooner or later if you do this. A better, although more expensive solution, is to replace the warped rotors.

I changed my OEM pads out for Carbotech. I have my stock pads I can let go for cheap if you're interested. Took them off after 1000 miles. I'm in Orlando, PM me if interested.

BTW, what you guys are experiencing are NOT warped rotors, it is pad material build up on the rotors. Read the Stop Tech article in the link in this thread. I am really surprised that GM warranties this as it is clearly outlined in the manual.

Be sure to burnish the pads (per the owners manual) or you are going to have the same situation again.

rotors were "out of round".
After resurfacing them, left rotor thickness now measures
29.6 mm, right rotor measures 29.4 mm. No vibration now.

You might be able to reuse the pads if you sand them, but sand them with the sandpaper lying on a hard surface rubbing the pad on the paper until it is flat.
That will bust the glaze.
