Default Hatchback Interior Trim

I’d like to put some sound deadening material under the carpet, perhaps the wheelhouse area if practical, to reduce noise on roads with coarse aggregate surfaces. Communicating with my hard of hearing wife is difficult enough on smooth roads.

Have done mechanical work for a number of decades but a neophyte on interior trim. Don’t want to break fasteners etc. Glen E? I have Glen E’s suggested trim removal tools. Don

Are you wondering how it comes apart? it's very simple actually and I could walk you through it easily. 480-359-5914

In addition, there is a drop in sound kit available:

Thanks, I’d seen that but I like the appearance of the carpet, perhaps that can be installed under the carpet? Don

Not without a lot of work to pull the carpet up...Even then the Pad is pretty thick. Consider buying a Lloyds rear mat (carpet or Vinyl) and covering it with that. Much nicer look and quality, and another layer of deadening. That's what I'll be doing. I found some 70dB sound absorbing barrier material at a good price (1/2 $$) here. Mine just arrived and I'll be cutting the pattern using my existing LLoyds mat tomorrow..

I guess the one question that remains is that if I put a 1” thick sound deadening mat under the carpet would it lift the carpet up enough that it wouldn’t be retained on the edges by the trim pieces? Don
