That is precisely the reason why I will get the factory nav. I have that combo on my cheap daily driver and see it on a lot of cheapo cars and do not want that look on my C7. It is probably in my head, as the Garmen is better than the factory nav, but the look of a Garmen stuck onto the dash just rubs me wrong.

Garmin is tough to beat...they have some cool features not available with C7 factory NAV. I use this on all 3 vehicles. Simple to transfer to other vechicles or stick in the glove box when not needed. Lifetime maps/traffic is a bonus.

Have a 5" Garmin but went with the in house nav system, just don't want the unit sitting up on the dash. Don't mind it in my other vehicles but the C7 doesn't have room for the clutter.

I do the same thing....Found a 17mm (Garmin sized) ball I've 3m'd to the dash. Clip on, clip off.

I also have an iMagnet swivel that will hold my Nav, Phone, FRS radio

Why not mount it in the dash cubby? Seems the most elegant solution and considering the Nav for 2015 is like an $1800 option I doubt most folks will be ordering the factory Nav. And since GM gave you the perfect spot, use it.

That's I'm doing with my 4.7" RAZR.

Garmin in the cubby hole instead of the dash mount. I use the window mount that comes with it as a kickstand.

I haven't played with the NAV yet. With all these solutions cropping up, it appears the Factory NAV is a Pi$$ Poor excuse for NAV. The 1800 extra for the 2015 puts it out of my want range and I don't care about the camera at this point. Not for an extra $900. This is in comparison to my $900 Nav system in my Focus ST.

And like I posted the other day for TomTom owners.

I have built in Nav but it stinks. I bought this to mount my phone in the little corner on the left of the dash - very inobtrusive. Great for using with other apps such as Waze to avoid tickets...

Never fails to amaze me how some folks say how bad the C7 Nav is and yet never give any details as to why they don't like it.

(works great for me, is easy to use, does everything I need it to, including traffic conditions and has not yet failed to get me to my destination with ease)

Uh-oh, I think you opened a can-o-worms. I think we, as Corvette fans, were trying not to go into details of bits that aren't great and focus on solutions. But, since you asked, for me, compared to my phone and the built in GPS on my other cars, it always picks poor routes or does other odd things. Granted, I am in NY where the roads are very difficult to navigate at times but again, the phone and two other built-in navs have only minor/nitpickey issues.

Just one concrete example of many, I turn it on every day to and from work just so I don't day dream and miss my exits. It tells me for the last 5 miles to work to get off the freeway! Yes, all my route preference settings are correct. It does other odd things as well as far as missing navigation points (yes I have the voice audio up). No nav is perfect, but this could have been better, IMHO.

I'd like to see a manufacteror come up with a dash that you could plug in about a 7" GPS and publish the measurements and requirements and let Garmin and Tom Tom and whoever else come out with a GPS to fit the slot just like they do for radios and keep these same measurements on all later models.

Better yet, just allow a Bluetooth of the data to our existing MyLink screen (since all new cars sold will require the back-up camera in 2016 I believe). GM and other manufacturers aren't ready to give up the money they're making off of selling these overpriced Nav options and reaping extra money for selling annual updates.

That looks like a great idea. Can you let us know where you found it!

Here is why. I bought off the lot and not ordered. I don't think I would have ordered the NAV based on the negative feed back and cost. I had not planned on doing this "mod" but the ideas were posted so I did it.

That's why I put Passport Max in DD and spent the $ to have passport 9500ci installed.....invisible from outside car...didn't want cord from cigarette lighter to unit messing up her clean look or for that matter big clunky radar unit hanging off rear vew mirror.....
Oh, plus I get laser jammer!!!

I'm using a "3BR Powersports Garmin USB to miniUSB Power Cable" plugged in to the USB slot in the cubby hole with a Nuvi 50LM. It comes in 9", 12", or 18" lengths and is available from www.gpscity.com
