Motortrend A8 Review
So it looks like A8 can achieve 0-60 in 3.5s http://m.motortrend.com/roadtests/ha...c_first_drive/

I've always been a row your own guy. This time I ordered an automatic. I'm actually excited about getting the 8speed. I originally ordered it so the wife could drive it too. This tranny sounds awesome.

Nothing wrong with a vette with an auto. I have owned & driven numerous cars with manuals, and anymore, an auto tranny suits me just fine. Sounds like a great transmission.

Having the A6 in our coupe, I've been very impressed with the performance of the tranny and figured this is how it would play out. Eight speed Vettes are going to be awesome!

Facts are facts: 63% of the 37,000-plus 2014 Corvettes sold had a six-speed automatic

it's about friggen time some numbers were released.
but sounds like the published 1/4 mile time was guessed at???
(they simply removed the 0.1 quicker 0-60... from the previous 1/4 stat)?
one tenth is 100ms. how much time does that extra shift or two - in the quarter mile - comsume? I don't think that was added to the math.
i don't doubt the 0-60 is improved; but we need real world testing... not claims.
The Stingray’s 0-60 performance is 0.1-second quicker than the previous six-speed automatic, contributing to a quicker quarter-mile elapsed time of 11.9 seconds – a 0.1-second improvement over the six-speed auto.

What does % sold have to do with price? In general a manual trans is simpler and cheaper to produce than an auto.

even if so, I think it's good news.

The manual is much cheaper to manufacture and warranty.. and easier to service. Thats the reason why you have to pay more for the automatic. Not because its less popular.
