He's probably implying C&D are 2 day late, as Motortrend posted their article 2 days ago. At least that's how I take it, but either way, the more reviews the better

With all the talk about the A6 overheating on track I thought the C&D quote about the A8 in my OP, "the Z51-equipped cars are certainly built for it; they will lap continuously for a full tank of fuel without overheating" would draw a little more interest.

they also said the A6 Z51 is track ready....Special cooling vents with trans cooler...I got the Z51 because the base car vents dont even work they are shut off,
Mine lasted 12 minutes and the alarms went off...Trans hot idle until it cools...GM has never addressed this problem yet....Now the new article says...Road course car for a fulltank of gas
not a problem, but were going to add an additional cooler under the car...Im confused

The article is about the base/Z51, the ZO6 comment about the extra cooler is just additional information is the way i read it.

Good to know the c7 z51 A8 can run on the track without overheating its transmission for a full tank of gas.....

That's impressive and certainly worthy of a thread such as this.

Let's be clear about this....most of the information in the articles come from GM PR releases and reps onsite at the rag testings.

CD or MT did not test the limitations of anything, they cruised around the track for 3 laps and let the next guy try it.

We will not know what it can do until people who actually track them take them out and hammer on them....not that it matters for 95% of the people on this forum, the car will never leave the public roads.

I am not saying I hope the A8 overheats, by all means, I hope it is a screaming success. I am saying that there is no actual information available yet.....the car hasn't been tested.

They are starting to hit the streets, I haven't seen any go through a track day yet to test heat issues....not to mention most of the country is 20 degrees cooler and falling vs August.

I think this weeks autoweek magazine has an automatic A8 corvette test coming in the next issue if I'm reading their website correctly....

I get the magazine so hopefully I can read the story. It's announced on their website as in the next issue...

Well, you are confused about the trans cooling vents; the driver's side vent is the trans cooling vent and is active on base models with automatic transmissions, as well as in Z51 models. The passenger side vent is for differential cooling and is active only on Z51 models.
