Will need new tires soon for my Z51
Folks,
I did a search but only came up with replacing the run-flats with non-run flats which I'm not interested in. I'm guessing there are not a lot of us owners with this many miles yet so there has not been a lot of threads about this yet.
I have 21,000 on my Z51 Stingray and it looks like I will have to replace the tires at some point in the next few months. As you can tell from the mileage this is my daily driver so I am looking for run-flats that I might be able to get more miles out of. Because I drive so many miles I do not want to take a chance on non-run flats so I know that limits me.
Do you guys have any suggestions?
Thanks
Gary

I've yet to see any non-OEM runflats in Z51 tire size. You could call TireRack and ask one of their advisers if there is a close tire size that may fit instead.

My opinion - getting 20,000+ miles on a set of high performance tires on a car with the Vette's capability is OUTSTANDING. As the saying goes, you pay to play.

I drive a lot of highway miles and will never track the car so tire performance is not first for me. I would rather get more miles out of them but still want the piece of mind of the run-flats. I put firestones on my first C6 and got 36,000 (and they were have the price of the factory Goodyears).
If there is not an alternative then I will have to go with the factory tires again.

You've done better than a lot of owners in getting 20K+ miles out of the factory tires. The softer compounds just don't last all that long.

New Tires
I bought a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 from Discount Tire....$1106.00 delivered to my house. (Z51 19" & 20"). They are non-runflat tires. Although I am not an aggressive driver, they seem to do fine when I want to have a little fun. Only have 1500 miles on them so I do not know what kind of mileage I will be getting out of them.

If you want a C7 with high mileage run flat tires then you shouldn't have bought a Z51 (which is a high performance option). A base car would have been your proper choice.

There is one other run flat available in Z51 sizes the Pirelli P Zero, however, it has a UTOG rating of 280, where as the stock Z51 Michelin has a UTOG rating of 300.

You need to double check that. The A/S3 tires in the Z51 size ARE NOT run flats. The ONLY run flat tire listed on Tirerack in the proper size for the Z51 size is the factory tire.

I would be thrilled if I got 20k miles from the C7 and Michelin Pilot Super Sports RFTs.
I am currently driving a 2011 BMW 135i on the stock Bridgestone Potenza RE050 RFTs and I barely get 15k miles out of them. I had to really stretch them to reach 15k miles, they probably should have been replaced at 12k miles.
