More than 8,000 registered for Corvette Caravan
Talk about missing a hell of a party. As of August 27, nearly 8,000 Corvettes had registered for the huge gathering at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY ... and I wind up getting stuck on assignment all the way on the West Coast.
The number is more than double the last time the museum had a caravan, which was in 2009, according to a WBKO report.

And only 500 of them(2 people per car) will be able to tour the plant. Some of us were planning to join in but when I contacted the museum about the plant tours, they were fully booked(1,000 people, 500 per day), and that was last fall.
The group from the west coast passed through Springfield, MO and stopped for lunch. I was planning on watching them pass through town, but forgot about it.

A number of people in my local club decided not to do the Caravan this year because the plant tours booked up so quickly. Those who put their names on the waiting list and many others, however, got their plant tours when they later significantly increased the tour capacity.

I was travelling from my home in Tennessee to Little Rock AR on Thursday the 28th and began counting Corvettes in convoy heading that direction at Jackson TN through Memphis on Interstate 40 and stopped counting at over 100. I was very surprised at the large number of C7s. The largest convoy had more than 20 cars in it as best as I could count. I envy those who were able to go.

We just returned from the Caravan. We were contacted late and were given several choices for the factory tours. The tour was great and openings were available right up until the event. As far as dining out goes, we had no trouble being seated, the wait times were no longer than usual for us even on Friday evening. Only making this post so people don't get scared off from going on the next caravan. The Carolina/Va caravan was extremely well planned and it all went very smoothly. The parking at the Museum was tight but you go to these knowing you will have to walk some to get to the event- even then it was no more than an 8-10 minute walk to get there. It was a great week and a lot of fun -

We just got home from the caravan a couple of days ago. It was AWESOME! Throughout the whole experience (Corvettes at Carlisle, 2014 National Corvette Caravan, 20th Anniversary of NCM and Grand opening of NCM Motorsports park) We saw at least 8,000 + corvettes and met many people and made some new friends! I will post pictures soon of some of the great experiences that we had during our 12 day adventure! It was awesome meeting new people and making good friends. The Corvette Community is an awesome group of people and can not wait unit 2019! Supposed to be bigger and better!

Did they sleep in shifts? I counted 41 motels including B&B's with a total of 2830 rooms in Bowling Green.

I had a blast during the Caravan, the new Motorsport Park made this a special event for me as I have been to the Museum a bunch before this visit and was in the 2009 Caravan that was also good with the expanded Museum debuted

Returned home just last night from our trip. What a blast! And we attended Talon's C7 Nav Seminar (along with some others). Great job Paul!
We took Route 66 home. If anyone cares, I posted the entire trip on our club's FB page with many pics:

(My C7 performed flawlessly the entire 2 week, 6000+ mile trip too)
