Default Homeless Man Steals Corvette, Drives to Strip Club

The story involves a homeless man who came across a convertible Corvette in Chicago with the keys left in it. The unhoused chap decided to take it for a spin to the local strip club, according to a Patch Chicago report. Even crazier, the 39-year-old took the car from right in front of a police station.

If it had been me, (the guy that stole the Vette) I would have seen how many laps dances I could have traded it for!

The 1981 Corvette belonged to a 46-year-old Beecher man who left the car with the top down and keys in the ignition, police said. He was parked in front of the Chicago Heights Police Department Aug. 14, ABC-7 reports.
Yeah, what could go wrong?

The car was so nice, Tarver told police, he wanted to buy it off the owner.
I like the way he thinks. '81 prices are in fact probably down to where homeless people can afford them.

Why in the world would someone leave the keys in the car with the top down unless they WANTED someone to steal it?

Far from it. Low mileage ( 10-20K ) mint condition go for 20-24K. I've found a ton of them and they are all in that range.

Steal Corvette, drive to strip club.

It probably seemed like a good idea at the time.
