Default Economy mode?

Can the C7 be driven around town in economy mode or is it just for highway driving ? Thanks.

Yes it can, but use it only for highway. I would suggest Touring Mode in the city.

Since Economy Mode is only available on the manual tranny version, yes.

You can use it for either highway or around town type driving (but it's kinda annoying around town IMHO)

So Economy mode is not available on the 8 speed auto?

On the A6, it goes into eco in all driving modes unless your in manual/paddle shift. I assume it's the same for the A8. Mine goes into eco at any speed as soon as the speed is stablished. It's seamless and I like it. When I punch it. It goes back to 8 cylinders and takes off like a rocket.

This is incorrect. Both the auto and manual have economy mode.

True but in the manual tranny equipped C7, you have to explicitly choose Eco Mode in order to enable 4 cyl mode

I have not used it yet (M7), at 1,400 miles my engine is still using oil. Thought I would wait until oil consumption stabilized before I shut down cylinders. Engine is down about 1/2 quart.

You need a gas-o-matic kit installed in your car. Get your mileage down to a more respectable 9 mpg. The horror of having to tell friends you are getting 38.5 mpg when their Mercedes is getting considerably less. Perish the thought! (it is Sunday and I am on another business trip, can't you tell)

Sorry about that but I doubt GM will do anything about burning a qt of oil every 2800 miles. Don

I drive in Economy Mode all the time. I only switch to Sport mode when I want loud mufflers.

Now that I have the Corsa, I have loud when I want...when I put my foot in it...even in economy mode. But it's fairly quiet until you put your foot in it.

Driving my 2015 C7 Z51 A8 home from the dealer on the interstate at 55 to 80 without cruise, I averaged 32.5mpg for 25 of the highway miles.

My 09 C6 A6 driven the same way would have gotten less than 24 mpg

Sorry blurry but I think u can see I was driving 64 mpg and 35.9 mpg during this point in time and spouse leaned over to take picture of mileage. Not sure why your Vette is not getting the same mpg as mine did. The best mpg I got on road trip to Marble Falls area was 38.5 mpg as I stated earlier. Awesome gas mileage on the road!!!
