"Revoluntionary"? GM has trouble getting "evolutionary" right. If it comes, I wouldn't touch this Car for at least five MYs. I guess I'll have to soldier on with my bloated, gaudy, tire eating, obsolete GrandSport.

The C7 has a 50/50 front/back rate ratio right now. So what's the point of the mid-engine platform? I guess they want to compete in Europe.

Also heard there will be a electric hybrid with over 800 hp. Cost will be $130k+.

I'm still waiting for my C7. And when I get it, I'm sticking with it. I doubt the C8 will come with a manual transmission. That will make my car more valuable in future years once the manuals are gone.

I'm afraid the price will put it out of my league. Automatic - not my first choice for a sports car.

I was going to start a new thread about how Car & Driver is reporting the new mid engine Zora C8 will only be available in DSO.

Then we could have a dozen more threads started about it too....

(wait for it....)

Default Badass Zora ZR1 Rendering Rolls off the Presses

I'm betting every Corvette fan in the world will be picking up the October issue of Car and Driver.

In fact, I just texted a friend who works near a magazine stand to see if he can grab me a copy of this one. I can't recall the last time I coughed up cash for a hard copy of a car mag with so much of the stuff now available online.

The Car and Driver cover shot, which I sit drooling over as I type this piece, showcases a hot red rendering of what that next-gen mid-engine Corvette could look like.

Read the rest on the Corvette Forum homepage.

Only the gullible ones.......

Car & Driver has been crying wolf about a mid-engine Vette since before the C3.....

This latest sensationalist headline of theirs is nothing more than continuing that hoax....

I already knu the Mid-Engine vehicle was coming.. as far back as 2011.. but I think they got it wrong calling it the C8.. I think this will be part of the C7 family and essentially be the 2nd step into creating a Corvette Performance Brand. I think we will also see THIS mid-engine formula as part of the resurgence of the Cadillac XLR.

The Corvette division is something I've been talking about for years though..
It has occurred to me that Chevy, and possibly GM really are pushing for the Camaro to be the Halo car for Chevy these days. If so... is the Corvette finally gonna get the autonomy it deserves as a separate brand, just sold in Chevy dealers?

Quite frankly I believe that GM would make very large profits with a Corvette Specific brand in the same vane as Porsche's 911 and Cayenne:

1) Stingray $55K-75K (Base Model 460HP)
2) Grand Sport $65K-85K (Upgrade with 500HP)
3) Z06 $85-105K (650HP)
4) ZR1 $110K-150K Mid-Engined (720HP)
5) a yes an ALPHA based Coupe CROSSOVER with a 320HP V6, a 450HP LT1, and a S/C 580HP LT1 as well.

All of this would continue to be sold at a CHEVY dealership in a separate (even if by partitioned wall) part of Dealership with specific/exclusive sales reps and technicians

Cadillac would get the a pick 3 of those vehicles.

1) The SRL (based off Stingray) would be a 2seater coupe with a 300HP 2.0LTurbo, optioned with a 440HP TTV6 for the Vseries (vs SLK)

2) XLR (based off Z06 and GS) 2seater with 460HP base, and VSport 580HP with optional "Check the Box" V-series at 650HP

3)Cien (it along with the Escalade would be the only non Alphanumeric) It would be completely based off mid-engine ZR1 and would come out before it. 720HP for coupe and a Roadster at 730HP

GM would have a viable competitor in these two divisions to both Porsche and Benz/Audi in almost all categories. Its time and they need to act once the Z06 is in place for the Corvette and the LTS in place for Cadillac. Properly engineered and leveraged they could use these two brands to usurp the profit reigns from both Toyota and VW.. using the VW strategy as Audi and Porsche are where its actual profits come from (Toyota's profits actually come from, and I'm not BS-ing here, leveraging older platforms under new skins with very little upgrades in terms of engines. (See Camry and Corolla). With Cadillac and a Corvette "semi"division within Chevy, along with GMC and Buick, which are extremely profitable, GM could be what it once was in the pre-90s as far as profits.

"after 61 years of evolution, the C8 will be revolutionary"

So, when the C2 came out, it wasn't "revolutionary"? Or the C4? This is what comes from dumping most of their real writers and replacing them with fetus/interns. With 10-second attention spans, they have no historical perspective.

And, by the way, the pictured rendering (except for the Corvette "pigeon" on the back) looks mostly Japanese...with a morphed Italian back end. Where's the Corvette?

A Corvette crossover? It seems ridiculous. But I thought the same when Porsche came out with theirs.

And, if I'm not mistaken, Lambourghini is working on one. Which sounds even more insane.

Just three years production for the C7 if this is true? Doesn't make sense.

Exactly.

As usual, C & D is full of crap. They RARELY get any prediction right (too bad so many continue to fall for their nonsense)
