So if you buy a 6 year GMPP when the car is brand new, you're really only getting 3 years of additional coverage. Seems stupid to me.....

As I remember, the magic breakpoint is 24K miles. If you buy GMPP before that, it's not much more than if you bought the same package with zero miles.

Yes, it's not a 6 yr warranty, but an extra 3 yrs, covering yrs 4 - 6, after the original 3.
Question is how much more expensive will waiting to buy 3 yrs from now vs spending $1300 today for a $72k car, for possible need for repairs in yrs 4 - 6....

Sorry but if it's a GMPP warranty (and unless something has changed in the past few months regarding it), it IS a 6 year warranty that runs concurrently to your existing 3 year factory warranty. So you pay for 3 years that you'll NEVER use

That's my thinking for most of my cars, but HATES it when it comes to trade in time & the dealer will always underprice & never gives me what its' really worth. So half the time, I keep it....

No. I checked this out due to screw in my 1 week old Z51. Dealer refused to replace the tire under warranty. Wanted $425 to replace it (left front). I turned down the tire warranty. They wanted $600 for it. Ended up having the tire repaired for free at the Goodyear store! Those guys took good care of me (as always) and simply reminded me there would be no guaranty the repair would last. That was 3100 miles ago...lesson learned...always get the tire warranty!
That's why I bought the 5 yr road hazard warranty, also good for replacement tires.

Edit: I just checked. Michelin ZP tires do carry a two-year road hazard warranty when purchased as replacements, but OEM tires are excluded. Sorry for the confusion.

I purchased the 7yr. 50,000 mile extended warranty on my 03 C5. I had gotten a quote from Ken Fitchner and when I gave The finance mgr. Ken's price he said that he would match it. I guess that was before you could buy E.W's out side of CA.
The only time I used extended warranty is when the rear end started to leak . That was a problem in the C5's. When I had to replace the head light motor it was out of warranty. Never did hit 50,000. Sold the car this past June, and it had just under 24,000.

Agree. I got stuck when I purchased the GMPP on a Saturn and traded before 3/36 and my pro-rated refund was about $50. GM said I used 30 months of the warranty, which was concurrent to manufacturers 3/36 warranty. Seems like the same policies as 5 years ago. Never again.

Someone above said there are advantages to having it such as a loaner car. I always thought the GM plan was a mirror image of the original factory warranty. Can someone confirm?

I got the Gmpp 7 year 84000 mile warranty for my 2014 I bought the warranty with 11951 miles on the car. So I am warrantied until 95951 miles. I paid $1650 with $100 deductible. I got it cheaper than what the main forum dealer on this site quoted me.
