Video: Here’s a real feel for the NCM Motorsports Park
Like many of you, I've been eagerly waiting for a chance to give that new track a try at the National Corvette Museum. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to make the trek down to Kentucky, nor have I been able to find a Corvette owner willing to let me borrow their car for the test run.
Hey, don't laugh. Even though I know that’s probably a long shot, my old man always says, “Nothing beats a failure but a try.” Besides, I imagine there’s some great soul out there who would be willing to let poor-old Detroit Steel live out one of his dreams.
Until then, I figured the next best thing would be to find a good video of someone else giving the NCM course a solid run. Sure, there'd be nothing like hitting those apexes in a C7 myself, but for now, this video posted by Mike Allen doing a hot lap with Ron Fellows will certainly hold me over.

Brought back great memories from the NCM 20th anniversary celebration. I did that same ride twice, both times with drivers from Spring Mountain (but not Ron). It was awesome!

Does Ron have a brother, Rob? I don't think Ron was there for the event.
That event was a Drive and Ride event put on by Chevrolet at the 20th Anniversary where you were able to drive 2 laps on the track in one of their line of new vehicles and then ride 2 more laps with a Spring Mountain instructor in a Z51.
The instructor I had driving seemed to be going quite a bit faster than it looks like in the video and took me for three laps. There were no cars in front of us since we were the first ones out in the group. I know one thing, being a passenger at speed is harder than it looks.
The part of the track they used for this was only about 1/2 of the total track. We did get to drive our own cars on the rest of the track in a 'parade lap' which was way more intense than what I expected.
That track is truly impressive, as was the event.

video. Looks like it would be a lot of fun taking a car out on the track.

Funny thing is, I done think the passenger realized who it was, even after the introduction after the hotlaps were complete.
... nevermind, thats the video on the home page here...

Track was configured as the full 3.2 course.
We got about 8-10 laps each.
A couple in the group had been to Spring Mtn - they made 115-120 on the straights...I wasn't getting through the corners as efficiently, so only made about 102/103.
Even so, car will do amazing things, especially in the corners...
G-Mter said I pulled about 1.15 in a couple of the turns...
Made me wish I had a 15 with PDR, or at least a GoPro.

IMHO.......man the track looks great BUT......should there not be a sand or gravel trap before you get to some of those guardrails?!?!??!
You slide off into grass and you can kiss it goodbye!!
I'm not a racetrack design expert but from the video I'd be very cautious is some of this turns.

The gentleman that operates the track, whos name escapes me at the moment, told us the track was designed to essentially duplicate the LeMans course.
Gives the corvette racing team a place to test w/o being on regular streets (as the actual LeMans course is)
there are sand/gravel traps or very wide concrete areas.
The cones are set where they are to show the most efficient "line" around the course.
When we did the "parade" and "touring" laps, the cones were not there.

Tommy Milner at the Motorsport Park doing hot laps!
VIP Hot Laps at the NCM Motorsport Park during the inauguration ceremony. My wife (Liz), was a passenger with Tommy Milner at the wheel of our 2011 ZO6 Carbon.
She had a blast, please try not to linger on her in-car interview with Tommy!
