Default Jalopnik Reviews 8 speed Auto

The last sentence of the article:

QTE
But just as the Stingray is the Corvette you don't have to make excuses for, this is the automatic Corvette you don't have to make excuses for. We have good things to expect from the Z06, no matter which gearbox it has.
UNQTE

I drove the 8 speed and went running for the 7 speed manual. I don't care if it shifts faster. Manual is more engaging. I found you really had to hit the gas in the auto to get any punch out of the automatic. It shifts smoothly and quickly when it wants to but if you want manual control it hesitates. I would have been bored with the A8 in my car...to each their own.

EDIT:

Read the article. His last line near the end sums up my thoughts....

In addition, for the individuals that moan about bumper-to-bumper and a stick you need to learn to drive. It's extremely easy to drive in traffic. It is not fatiguing. My friend's Evo X with a race clutch...now THAT is a pain in traffic.

No doubt the A8 is the future...the Stick is dead.
Look at the modern supercars....no sticks.

No more antiquated 1900's transmission for me...all the modern tech 21st century tech of the A8.
