Had my 2015 in on Tuesday for the same problem. There is a fix for it but not a bulletin. The tech just has to call the TAC (Technical Assistance Center) describe the problem and they will send them a step by step procedure on how to fix it. There was no document number and he wouldn't print me a copy for the forum.
Is it interesting that we have heard nothing from the sponsors of this site or anyone at the factory? Is this one of those problems that they assume will go away if it is ignored?

Sounds like as of right now, that's the fix. A car could be ordered and then have the dealer check/cover this 'fix' during the PDI via the above. Maybe will be a TSB for it later but big corporations can move slowly on these. My opinion only, but this is a really minor issue to be holding up a decision to order.

dude all you do is whine and complain about this issue. I got my car back today. No problems. Works like a champ now. It's not that big of a deal.

You are suggesting that a simple solution is out there, but I say if it is that simple then the factory can do it when they get around to it. And my dealer is not that close (30 miles, one way) so I'd rather not make a trip to fix something that really needs to be fixed at the factory.

Nosferatu - I'm planning on taking my C7 in to my dealer soon to have my Nav Red X issue fixed. Just curious, did you find out if the issue involved a wiring change in the rear view mirror, as others have noted?

I was recently at the Factory and spoke to them about this Nav fix. They are fully aware of it, but stated there is nothing in writing about it (yet).
Just last week I read of a person who took the factory delivery option and drove home from the factory with the Red X Nav problem, so evidently the assembly line hasn't gotten word to make the change yet. One can only assume it takes awhile for the engineers to get this modification information down to the assembly line.
The good news is, I'm reading that several C7 owners have successfully gotten their Nav issue resolved at their dealer, so at least the repair information is getting to the dealerships.
My suggestion is to call your dealer and ask if they have had experience repairing this issue and if not, perhaps find a dealer that has. Ideally you don't want your C7 to be the first one they experiment with.

insulate the wire is the fix but yes it's that one with the mirror.

If you already have a C7 and discover the problem, then the only thing you can do is go back to the dealer to have it fixed. Many have done that and I'm glad it happened for them.
If you have the luxury of waiting for a factory fix as I do, then you might want to take advantage of that option, as I have. It always depends on your personal circumstance.
My car (2015, VIN #28) has been at the dealer twice for this issue and has not been fixed yet. Each time they tell me that the GPS checks out fine and is tracking 6 satellites, notwithstanding the red X over GPS. Assuming I trust this dealer again, I will tell them not to give me the car back until the red x is gone.
Aside from the red X, I know it does not work right because every few days the GPS will place me far away from where I really am (e.g., in the middle of SF Bay) and I can only guess it is because there is interference between the GPS head unit and the GPS antenna.
GM Customer Service: Please either issue a TSB or let me know how I can get this problem fixed.

In the meantime just use the Connections & Directions feature of your On-Star (if it is still active) and they will send you exact directions to wherever you need to go.
Good suggestion and one I honestly never thought about. I might as well use the OnStar service while I'm in the free trial. So I take it that OnStar does not rely on the car's GPS device for location? Perhaps it can also rely on cellular triangulation...
Follow up - I'm happy to report my 2015 Z51 went under the knife for its Red X Nav fix yesterday and is working fine now. After I left the dealer I drove around for several hours and never saw the Red X once and the GPS mapping was very accurate. And I was pleasantly surprised to see next-turn guidance was popping on the HUD. Nice touch. I'm not sure I want to leave my Garmin GPS home just yet, but so far so good.
As others have noted above, my tech spoke to the Tech Service Center and received step-by-step instructions on how to fix the problem.
My dealership (Hendrick in Cary, NC) has repaired other C7's recently with the the Red X Nav problem, and no reoccurring problems so far, so hopefully mine will be fine now.
My Red X problem was fixed by local dealer. Took two visits. I brought copies of needed fix with me both time. First visit they just reset system so it knew where it is but still had a red x. It relied on dead reckoning for two days until I did a long trip and it got lost.
Second time they called GM and did the simple shield fix. I actually like the factory navigation. The HUD arrows works great! So did the voice input for destination.
DeLillo Chevrolet in Huntington Beach, Ca treated me great, gave me a loaner both times, changed oil without overfilling my Z51. All in all a good experience on a great car.

Dracla - I visited the NCM and Factory back in September. After the tour I mentioned to my tour guide that my new C7 had (at the time) the Red X Nav problem. The tour guide asked me to wait in the lobby and he disappeared into the factory. He returned a short time later asking if I had my C7 with me, and if so, the factory personnel would be more than happy to effect the repair. Unfortunately I wasn't driving my C7 that day, but I have no doubt the factory would have taken care of the problem that day. I'm not sure if that means the repair procedure had finally trickled down to the assembly line or not, but perhaps customer service could answer that question for you.
A Corvette being a luxury purchase and not a necessity buy, we all enjoy the option to wait for factory fixes if we choose. Each to their own of course. As for me, I'm glad I didn't wait. The Nav fix was taken care of while routine maintenance was being performed, and done remarkably quickly.
