Poor C6 owner breaks into piggy bank.
....and buys a C7.
Had coffee with a friend this morning and he was telling me he was thinking about getting a new C7. He didn't want to part with his 2011 GS, but his wife was wanting a new car. He hasn't warmed up to the C7's styling but his wife likes it. He has a Silverado, an Escalade and his C6 in his 3 car garage.
He called me a few minutes ago to tell me they bought a 2015 coupe this afternoon, sitting on the showroom floor that had a $72,500 MSRP, and he got $9,000 discount off the MSRP. No employee or supplier, or credit union, etc. discounts. Just a flat out discount to get him to hand over a check.
He did say it drove and rode great(base C7 A8 3LT with Z51 appearance package). But then he's an old fart like me, so comfort is the name of the game.
Since he is a poor C6 owner that can't afford a C7(as claimed by many on this forum) he is keeping his GS, so he's looking at getting a 4-post lift like mine so he can park four vehicles in his 3 car garage.
Damn, it's terrible to be a C6 owner that can't afford a C7. Oh...wait.....!!!!!!

Really disappointed in this post, Joe. I suspect this thread will deteriorate quickly. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

This friend you speak of sounds amazingly lucky too. It's not every day a C7 buyer can just waltz into a showroom and the dealer is eager to bend over and offer a $9k discount just to get rid of their brand new (Model Year 2015 no less) sports car.

I thought about keeping my C6 coupe instead of trading it in on the C7 vert, but I'm very glad I didn't. It would have been driven exactly 0 miles since I got the C7 in April. I haven't missed it for one second.

I'm getting a C7 and keeping a C6.
But I like Corvettes. From multiple gens, even. There is at least one variant of each gen I like.

When I buy a C7, I will be trading my C6. Not because I don't like it but between the other toys, I just couldn't give it the attention it would deserve. I think I would miss it because of the work I have put into it but who knows. When the time comes, the C6 might as well go to someone who will enjoy it as much as I have.

Everybody makes the decision best for them, as to which car to buy and which to keep or not. Sweeping assumptions as to why people do or don't do something (most of which mirror their own circumstances) are tiresome.
I appreciate the humor of the OP in a counter to the thread in C6 about how everyone who doesn't have a C7 must be too poor to buy one.

I don't think everyone things a C6 owner can't afford a C7.
I think what they are saying is the C6 owners that are hating on the C7 "can't afford one" and that's why they are dissing it.
I had a C6 and bought the C7, my C6 was on the top off my 4 post lift for the 9 months I owned it at the same time as I had my C7. Sold it because I never drove it!
As far as the deals, it all depends on market. Sounds like your friend got a heck of a deal, back of invoice. Dealer must have been desperate.

Self Esteem is low with this OP but yet he comes back to the bully table for more abuse.
Don't feed the trolls.....just slip the mashed potatoes under his rear before he sits down.

Me too.
After all it is his fake friend and he can make up whatever elaborate story he wants about him.
My favorite part was that he purchased the C7 just because his wife liked the styling, even though he didn't like the styling. 'Cause that happens all the time.

This is exactly the kind of BS that I see all the time in the C7 section. You don't have a clue, yet you accuse me of making up stories, when in fact, it is you that is making up the BS. Every time someone posts something that the C7 section doesn't like to hear, they start with the name calling.
Don't know if I can get over to his house tomorrow but as soon as I can I'll take photos and post them. Till then, you need to decide what kind of whine you want to drink with your serving of crow.
I'm not trolling as everything I posted is the truth. It's this section that can't handle the truth.

In the mirror is my guess.
I must go check out that thread.
You're trolling when all your posts are so negative, IMO. Even this one about your friend getting a c7 manages to be negative. Why hang out here?
