700-hp Corvette takes on 700-hp Civic on the drag strip
I don't know -- I might have to call bull$#&^ on this one: a Honda Civic blowing out a 2014 Corvette in a roll race?
OK, the fact that both cars are putting out 700 horsepower kind of throws things off a bit, but still, there’s just something about this that is a little off like maybe some driver error. Hey, I'm just trying to figure this whole thing out.

The video says the Honda is 700HP, but the Vette is 650HP. Where did the "both cars are putting out 700 horsepower" come from?

That's not to say that I don't tip my hat to the Civic. However, I'd say the margin of victory (and I wouldn't say the Vette was blown out) is probably indicative of the weight and HP differences.

I found the builder's FB page (they even give props to a C6Z a little ways down): https://www.facebook.com/innovativemotorworks

But its still a Civic...you can make it as fast as you want but in the end it's still a Civic. I used to have a 800whp Toyota Supra...but I would have traded it in a heartbeat for a stock Ferrari 360 even though I could crush them anytime anyplace.

So you are saying modding any car other than a Ferrari is pointless?

the work done to get a civic to perform like it did in the vid should be of interest to anyone who is truly interested in cars.. unless that interest is only in the application of wax on sunny saturday mornings..

No worries. The Vette owner probably went home to his prom queen wife for his consolation prize and the civic owner got to drive home in his civic and hang out with his roommate bob.

Modding is something I am well familiar with since I just got rid of a 450whp Scion FR-S that had more money in its parts than the car was worth new. Even with that car I wanted a better car which is why I bought my C7. Theres something to be said about making a slow car fast, but the car you start with is still a car that isnt as refined or desirable as other cars. Even now that I own a C7 I still lust over Ferraris and if I had 1000hp in my C7 I would still want a 458 more.
