Default She didn't melt.....

Single digit temps today, couple inches of snow....decided to take care of some errands in the C7. Right out of the snowy uphill driveway I could tell this is going to be fun. Note the nice grip once I started to move up the incline....in my other vette this never would have turned out so good. (louzy pic, I know, but you'll get the idea)

Out on the roads I can say these true winter tires are great. Only one word can describe it...CONFIDENCE. I felt like King of the Road...I could pass, I could corner, I could stop; in the same manner as my summer tires in July. Bottom line, I now have the best of both worlds....optimum summer driving and confident winter driving....no compromising at all either way.

Now let's see how far this can go before going off topic....lol

Impossible! Corvettes are not made for snow and should be sealed in a bubble while on a battery tender in winter months!

Agree 100%. I have the same tires and the grip is amazing. It's interesting how people in FWD sedans with all season's rubber think they are way safer than you in your RWD sports car.

No, they don't melt. Here was my C6 on Vail Pass a couple of years ago.

And at the bottom:

I was on the way to Texas for the Big Bend Open Road Race where I ran the 150 class, so those tires are Y rated summer only tires. The front CF splitter was plowing snow in spots. It was an interesting ride to say the least. I got some strange looks.

I used to drive Corvettes in the snow. Never again. Road salt stains the brake calipers and they look terrible after one winter.

Winter takes the newness right out of any car. I hate to even drive my old 2004 Chevrolet truck. You can almost hear the metal rusting away from all the darn salt the highway department dumps on the road.

you should have rinsed them with a spray bottle after every use....also, powder coating is very resistant to corrosion due to it's cohesive properties....sounds like yours were uncoated calipers, no?

Driving a Vette in the snow should be a SIN... But it's a good sin!

You definitely did the right thing by getting winter tires. Where did you get them? Sizes and Brand???

It was 84 in L.A. today. No Corvettes got stuck in the snow around here.

Seriously, though. Sometimes I wish we actually had 4 seasons here instead of spring/summer/spring/summer. On second thought...

I'm happy you're happy but I'm sure glad it isn't my Corvette in those conditions.

There's an old saying that goes "On a quiet night, you can hear a Chevy rusting". Don't know if there's any truth to it, but all my Ford pals swore it was true.

I noticed you had the sottzero Pirelli snow tires. Would you recommend them or the PA4 Michelin winter tires? Thanks. Anyone can chime in who has experience with them.
