Default Black Flagging Forum Members - Who Wants This Option?

I am a programmer and it would not be too complicated to add this option. The idea spawned because it gets old seeing the same people time and time again stirring the pot because they are bored and have no real agenda.

There can be a flag that if any one member gets marked by their peers and once they reach 20 negative mark, they get black flagged. We as members can choose to hide black flagged member's threads or even down to the post level (anything containing their screen name).

When the trouble makers get blocked, they lose interest and go away and if they come back under a new name, the cycle repeats. They will tire of the game and straighten up or move on.

You'd have to be a real jerk to be black flagged. Who's with me?

You can add members to your Ignore List, that way you don't see anything they post.

Click on their name, View Public Profile, User List, Add to Ignore List.

I should do this for half the people in the Z06 section...

Well hell's bells. Learn something new everyday! Amen to that while I'm at it! Thanks for the tip! I'll be busy for a while blocking all the senseless churners. HA!
Hope others follow and maybe the trouble makers will just go away!

The pot stirring types bug me too, but I'm against actions that would suppress anyone's right to express themselves. That being said, (and as others have noted), you can easily filter out the pot stirring types by using your Ignore List.

This forum is no different than any I’ve frequented. There are a core of knowledgeable and mostly reasonable people at the middle of the proverbial “bell shaped curve.” There are problem children at either end of the curve, trolls as the internet calls them. Don

It would be a better feature if it were a total ignore. As it is now, you can see threads started by ignored members, and there posts are visible if someone quotes them.

But another thing people need to remember is that threads can be reported. The moderators do a pretty good job of handling troublemakers.

Kinda like term limits. If you can't exercise your "right" to NOT look, to go to another page what is the problem? No, sorry I disagree with "black flagging."

There are moderators. They have a job to do, a difficult one. If you don't like someone's post and just can't pull yourself away from the thread/post, PM the moderator with your complaint and a url.

Actually, just use the Report Post icon ().

New here but not new to forums.

Things are allowed to go way too far here as far as personal attacks and general poor behavior.

There is a difference between having a conflicting opinion and being a real jackwagon IMHO.

seriously? This is the internet. You're not going to get along with everyone. The same guy that pisses you off one day may solve your C7 problem the next. Were not children, ignore what you don't like and move on to the next post, whats so hard about that? At work, what do you do with your boss/co worker that you don't get along with?

Not me.

I honestly can't believe you're even serious proposing to let members "black flag" other members. Anybody that's so thin skinned to let people you don't know bother you that much - or even enough to need the Ignore feature - probably shouldn't be on the internet.

I certainly don't like personal attacks, but my limited experience on Corvette Forum says that it is relatively clean and very orderly. I quit another forum for another brand because of personal attacks. While some avatars are very political and may offend some, I haven't seen many political attacks, like I see regularly in our Naples Paper. Always the same people too.. At least here the attacks don't go on and on and on. Like it's been pointed out, there are ways to ignore people and if still harassed, take further action.

Feel some people would black flag others just to make a point or be funny. NOT NECESSARY!

OP should be black flagged for starting this thread.
