Default How to: Suede Z06 D shaped steering wheel WITHOUT Z06 logo

This steering wheel is 7sp manual suede with black stitching which is how the suede shift boot and suede shift **** come also. This completed my full suede conversion.

23231505 steering wheel Retail 553.00 I paid 363.07

I popped the center aluminum trim bezel loose of the new steering wheel, you just pry it off. No need to unhook any wires. The Z06 carbon fiber piece pulls off also.

I wrapped it some carbon fiber vinyl scrap that I picked up today from a local vehicle wrap place. The price was good on that too! Freeeeee

I sprayed it with 2 coats of Krylon SATIN clear coat hoping it would dull it, but it made it shinier.

I then sanded it with some 0000 steel wool until I was happy with the dullness, so I could match the carbon fiber matte dash as best as possible.

I am very happy with the results and it cost me virtually nothing and it took me maybe 15 minutes to do.

Same here on PM. What is the difference between the auto and manual wheel? Are the paddle shifters different?

The manual will have the rev match paddles while the auto has the +/- paddles.

Only the paddles are different, it you can't order the steering wheel you need, just swap your originals into the new steering wheel.

I wonder if the "Z06" logo could just be sanded off with fine sandpaper and then re-clear it. I'm assuming the insert is wrapped in carbon fiber like the optional dash plate.

Well done, wouldn't be able to tell it wasn't an OE option really.

Looks great, thanks for sharing this mod with us!
Any reason why the Z06 A8 D shaped steering wheel could not be used on a '14 A6 configured Vette?

Ok you said the plastic grey piece pulls off.

I do not want to break anything but mine is not budging.

Are there tabs or something holding it on?
