Have you been to the track yet?
I have not. I'd like to take it once to an HPDE just to toy around though.

My serious track stuff is in the Focus though. Going fast in a slow car is more fun than going slow in a fast car!

And a tad more economical as well! $300 per track day for tires is indeed a bit salty. Hence the MX-5. BTW: I don't know what year your car is, but if you can, you should definitely do the Spring Mountain track school. Killer is what it is.

As for Mobile/Exxon vs Castrol, I dislike Exxon for the same reason but do prefer their products over BP.

There is a Youtube video of a guy doing an oil temperature test and a viscosity test, M1 surpassed the competition.

That and I dislike BP even more so, primarily for their handling of the Deepwater oil rig incident. That and it isn't a domestic company. I'll always buy and support domestic, even when the companies policies and/or practices are troubling.

I don't recall seeing Amsoil in his test but I have seen separate Amsoil tests and have been impressed by the results.

for the record I've been using Amsoil in my vehicles since '76, to the best of my knowledge they have been around since '72, I know of none better.

Thank you for posting. I have a stupid question, which I asked on your other thread, but will post here as well. This service bulletin specifies Mobil1 15W-50 for track events and competitive driving, but it does not specifically call out 5W-30 for normal driving. Shouldn't 5W-30 be in the service bulletin somewhere?

Right, but the owner's manual also points out the 15W-50 fill for track and competitive driving. So why is that also called out in the service bulletin, but not the 5W-30 fill for normal usage? I know it's a fine point, just seems weird to me.

This thread was very useful to me...dealer used the dexos bulk oil (part 88865639) in my Z06, had to fight back for Mobile 1 and showed them the service bulletin linked above. They are flushing the dexos out with Mobile 1 now.

I was looking at your post on the forum and saw this about Mobil 1. My vett is a 2019 GS when I took it to the dealer I had to pay extra for the Mobil 1. I don't know if this changed since your Post. But it diid **** me off. When I'am finished with my last change I willl be changing to AMSOIL.

The best way to mark the cap is to replace it with the upgraded oil cap more info on the oil upgrade here.

A small dealer in Hampshire,il did my 2019 G S oil change with the correct 0-40 oil.
The service guy has a Z06 himself and made sure they had the factory oil before i made the appt. Good dealers are around!

My service advisor allows me to observe the tech doing any work on my GS. I actually watch him remove the cans from the cases of Mobil1 oil they use. I've have a 13 year relationship with the same advisor who has serviced 3 of my Corvettes. I wouldn't touch the sales department with a ten foot pole but the service department is good to work with.
