Time marches on, and the inevitably of that will make any car look 'dated' eventually. Taken to an extreme you could say the C1 looks dated, the Ford Model T looks dated, the Piper Cub looks dated etc. But there are few I know that would turn down an opportunity to ride in any of those or better yet get a chance at the controls.
When I bought my C6, I couldn't bring myself to sell the C5. When I bought the C7, I couldn't sell either the 5 or the 6. So with three in the shop, I can firsthand see them and experience them in the moment. Each car has at least one strong point over the other two, and there are days when I eagerly want to drive one over the other two as well. Right now, with the weather what it is here, I'm just waiting to drive one at all LOL
Interestingly I find the newest cars seem to intimidate a few (maybe very few) car guys. Example - I have a friend I've known since high school who was a serious Vette enthusiast and experienced racer - I offered him the driver's seat in the C7 and he didn't even want to start it. He did start the C6 but didn't want to drive it. He has driven the C5. Two others who have seen the C7 didn't even want to sit in the driver's seat. Before I got mine I would have jumped at that offer. Go figure.
I owned a C6 for a year when they first came out ---- The C6 was a substantial refresh of a C5 - It was really not a new model in terms of the basic car - the chassis was the same basic chassis as the C5 (balsa wood and all) - The C7 is a clean sheet design - a dramatic step up
Ditto what pickleseimer said, modded C5 M6 yellow/black vert with headers and exhaust is loud and fun to drive, added C 6 GS A6 3lt red/tan vert with mild to wild, took turns driving both, next month a C7 3lt Z51 A8 vert shark gray/red joins them, will drive and enjoy them all, each has their own distinction and chacteristics.
Or he was being facetious and just trying to poke a little fun. I'll assume the best unless I get a reason to assume the worst
I didn't take it that way at all. He was trying to play the other side of the fence, devil's advocate if you will. Splitting hairs, trying to minimize the point of the thread etc. If you frequent here much, it's rampant and quite frankly I'm sick of it. I don't mind other's opinions but some people on here are just aholes...period. Some probably think I am too. It's just the way of the world I guess.

You should hang out in OT for a bit. If people aren't being A-holes then you know there's a problem

I've tried. I noticed when I signed up here in 2008 the C6 forum had a lot of antagonists, but the C7 section is just over the top to me. I truly picture retired men sitting at home sipping a cup of coffee just trolling the C7 forum looking for someone to argue with. It's kinda pathetic. At 35 myself, sometimes I wonder if I'm just not the norm for the Corvette crowd. It drives me nuts lol!
When asked by a colleague if the C7 Corvette makes the design of the C6 look dated, my response was, “Absolutely, unequivocally, yes and in a major way." I went on to say that anyone who disagrees either owns a C6, or should have their eyes checked.
I have noticed that since I got my C7 just two short months ago, when I see a C6 it just now appears dated. One of them I saw yesterday even looked "old" if you know what I mean.
Your impression is more or less a tautology. The C7 came after the C6, and the C7 design incorporates new styling trends. It doesn't matter if the new trends are good or bad. New things look new.
This isn't to say the C7 looks better, or is better proportioned. I happen to prefer the C6 in those departments, just as many people prefer the dated C2 to the cutting-edge C4. Or the Mach 1 to the Mustang II. Or the F40 to the F50. Or the 993 to the 996. Or the F1 to the P1. Or a '32 Ford to a PT Cruiser. It's all a matter of taste. But "dated" isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Ever since automakers got their aero act together, the things that make cars look "dated" are mainly surface details anyway. The basic size and shape and functional features have been settled for a few generations now.

I have tried to like the C7 Z06 , however that Pontiac rear end just kills it for me, and as technically advanced as it is, still will keep my C6Zo6! And instead of a C7 Zo6 as I planned on, I will be buying a Porsche G2. Good luck with the C7, I'll pass.

From: HOPE is the first step on the road to disappointment.
First off I STILL LOVE my C6. Great car and I've had a lot of fun with it. But, YES, the C6 looks really dated next to a C7 to my eyes. I, no doubt, am on of the few that thinks a C5 looks fresher than a C6. To me the C5 is aging better. I'm still well over a year away from pulling the trigger on a C7 Z06 and I can't wait.
But then looks are subjective so who really cares?
I have a C5, not a C6 or a C7. Of the 3, I think the C5 still looks the best. The pop up headlights are out of style now, but I think it is a very classy design, and it looks fast sitting still. It still looks like a car that could be new. The C6 is similar, with some tweaks. I'm not as thrilled with the holes in hood in the Z06 and ZR1, just doesn't look right to me.
The C7 is much more dramatic, but I suspect it won't age nearly as well, it has too much bling for me. For example, the early 90s Camaro and Firebird. Very dramatic styling at the time, but now? They haven't aged well at all.
I suppose that a lot of people equate 'conservative' with 'stodgy', but that doesn't have to be the case. I think the C5 and C6 achieved looking good and looking classy at the same time.

You're of course entitled to your opinion, but suggesting that anyone who doesn't agree with yours needs their vision checked is pretty silly.
What you're saying is that your opinion isn't an opinion but actually a fact.
If ever there was a forum that needed a smiley performing fellatio on itself, it's this one.
My non-fact opinion is that wide body C6s don't experience the visual aging issue as quickly. I actually find that I like C7Z, then any wide body C6, then base/Z51 C7, then C6 for an exterior only preference.
For the interior, C7 hands down. Even with my 4LT '12 interior the C7 just smacks it pretty much everywhere.
Performance.. Well, that's the hotly debated topic now, isn't it.

Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
