Z51 Package Now Seems Like a Good Deal
I had decided not to order a car with the Z51 option but now after analyzing what you get with it, I am having second thoughts. I want the Z51 wheels and performance exhaust and would like to have the Magnetic Ride option. The wheels and exhaust by themselves are $3K, so am I right that I am only paying an extra $2K for the other items in the Z51 package? Actually, with military pricing the difference is even less, $4500 more with Z51.

If this crappy weather ever leaves I hope to drive down to Criswell and try to test drive one of each. I also want to meet Mike Furman and have him answer some other questions for me.

Do you also have Magnetic Ride? I really don't understand how this option works in addition to the various other modes: Eco, Tour, Sport and Track.

Yes I do. Eco don't know. Tour and weather = soft ( but firmer than base suspension) sport = firm, where I spend 99% of the time, and track = firmest, mainly for a track where it is smooth. And there's a lot more to it than just the settings. Do a search as there is a lot of good info. If you get Z51, mag ride is a near must.

I'd bet in a few years a Z51 will still be worth $2-3k more than the appearance package base car.
The appearance package will add no resale value (maybe $500), just be easier to sell possibly.

I agree... Since I won't track the car, I didn't get it, but I was always aware that when time came to sell the car to upgrade, a Z51 would hold it's value better comapred to a non... oh well...

A quick look from the financial standpoint.
The Z51 adds $5000 to the purchase price.
Using Kelly Blue Book for comparing a trade in one year:
2014 base coupe, 3000 miles, nothing extra, $50303 very good, average trade in.
Same car, miles, etc. but with Z51, $55656 very good, average trade in.
If traded in one year, the Z51 is worth $5353 more.

I sold/traded two C7 Z51's in a span of 14 months... both transactions went well in my favor particularly due to being equipped with the Z51 pkg and frankly if they were non-Z51's I wouldn't have been able to easily dispose of the 1st one (coupe) with profit and the 2nd one (vert) would have had a lower trade-in value, like 4-5K lower according to the dealer.
Every case differs but IMO and experience a Z51 (esp. with MSRC) will be easier to sell than without.

Plus i'm status 3000 and it's too late to change order now to a Z51 lol...
If plans work out, we'll be getting a Z06 towards end of C8 lifespan anyways. Probably skipping C8 lol

Is was a good deal then and is better now. In Oct 2014, my 2LT Z-51 was ordered with an A6, NPP, MSRC, red calipers and black aluminum wheels, all for an additional cost. I'm glad through packaged some of the items together.
My car, also had the body color dual roof option and had a sticker of $66,535 (incl dest).
Get the Z-51 pkg.

Also MSRC is excellent on the street. Drove both with and without and the difference was night and day.

I would only add Z51 for resale value, not 1 other reason. I have to remind myself I bought this car to enjoy, not to sell in 8 years and make a better profit. lol

Yeah, but the Z51 is $5K more at purchase. Not saying it's not worth it, just that resale is not the reason to do it.
