Default How many C7 owners plan to actually KEEP their cars??

When I purchased my 15 Z51 A8 car I knew this was a car I wanted to buy and keep for a long time. I see the C4 section and I honestly have huge respect for those guys. I like how they love THEIR CAR and not all wrapped up and worried about or have that latest and greatest attitude. I get caught up in that myself sometimes. This car I LOVE the color and especially the look of the new Stingrays. No huge mods planed maybe just intake and headers. Keep it simple and just enjoy ownership. I was wondering how many other owners bought with the intent to keep long term.

here here

Plan is to keep it for the entire generation and through C8 unless we fall in love with it like we did with the C7.

Our plan was to stay one generation behind, but a Z version (had a C5Z when C6 was out) but when the C7 came out, I told the wife screw it, we're getting a C7... I will certainly have it until C8s come out, then when C8s come out, I will either hold on to it (would love to do a Callaway upgrade which is very possible) or upgrade to a C7Z towards the end of life of C7 generation. either way I'm not doing the keep it for a few years and try another car thing.

If I can afford to keep mine as well as get something new then I will. I guess it depends on my situation when I pay my car off in another 3 years if not sooner.

I plan to keep it just like the rest of my Vettes. Obsess over it until the next new thing comes out then trade it off.

I don't see this as a long term keeper. WAY to many gizmos to wear out, break or become outdated.

Hi! Are you loving it?

I kept my last c5 that I sold for about 11 yrs, and my c6 for about 8 1/2. Don't plan on changing this one out for another anytime soon, either.

I tend to keep a car for 8-10 years. The 2015 C7 is my daily driver, as was the 2006 C6 before it and the 1997 C5 before that. Next car won't be until 2023, so who knows . . . ?

What worries you as far as stuff wearing out and not working over time?? As long as the 6.2 liter fires up and I can drive it the gizmos are all just icing on the cake. I figure over time I would have to service the mag ride and either replace with new mag shocks or get rid of the mag shocks and replace with good aftermarket shocks. This is way down the road though.

Yes, my C7 is a long term car for me. I owned my C6 longer than any other car at 80 months. I expect to keep my C7 at least that long, if not longer.

"Keep" is so hard to define - I intended to do that with my C6 but happily got rid of it to acquire a C7. I am fearful the future may hold smaller displacement engines with horsepower made via forced induction (think Ecoboost) so the torque we feel today at any RPM will be a thing of the past. THAT alone could keep me in the C7 a long time.

It's nice how the OP pointed out the loyalty of the C4 section...........I wonder what that actually means...............

I will keep my '14 and convert it to a mid-engine Zora C8 at the appropriate time

I certainly didn't mean it as a backhanded compliment. I just know how sometimes I get caught up in stupid things like "this car has more horsepower" or "this car is now faster than mine so I should mod" I got caught up in that nonsense with my 08 C6 Z51. I knew the C6 Z06 was faster so I did a supercharger/meth injection and it was never quite as fun and enjoyable as when she was stock. I noticed my neighbor has a nice 1992 LT1 Coupe 5.7 liter and 300 horsepower. He loves the car and can care less what is slower or faster. He just likes driving that car and I guess has that "bond" with his car. That's what I hope my C7 experience will be like.

I have had a few cars, and some I thought I would keep. I am hoping to hold on to the C7 longer than others. Mostly I just want the weather to get nicer so I can drive it.

I understand totally - I was trying to instill a bit of humor on a Monday afternoon. A thread is on this forum somewhere asking members to rank their favorite series - as with other similar polls for most the C4 comes in lowest. I think it's cool that members DO have that longterm bond with the vehicle regardless of what it is. When I was a kid almost every car had a "personality" - good or bad, they did. Today there is so much generic transportation that finding something that instills emotion is awesome. Throughout production the Corvette has always had a character and personality about it - I think that is why it still retains a status as "icon" in American performance vehicles.

Mustang? Not so much..................

Had my C6. Thought for sure that this was going to be a keeper, dumped a lot of money into the car. Had to pay for my daughter's college and regretfully sold it.

Then I purchased a 2013 CTS AWD Coupe. Never liked the car but it was the best for me. Thought I would keep it but plans changed so I traded it in for my C7.

Now I' am thinking that I'll be keeping this one.........but who knows what the future might bring.
