Default $2,000 under invoice

I have a deal percolating on the 2 LT Z51 7 speed with MRC and upgraded wheels(black machined aluminum), transparent roof, performance data, and a bunch of carbon doo-dads.

I wanted a 1 LT Z51 7 speed with MRC and the $495 black wheel option. Same dealer found me one but is charging $1000 over invoice for it. Lease price are only $65 a month different.

$2000 under invoice is almost 11% off MSRP. Best I have seen on the forum has been 12% from an Iowa dealer who couldn't unload the car and I think buyer had employee discounts.

What do you all think?

By the way the color is Daytona Sunrise Orange. My favorite color.

Thanks,

Jim

Redo your math.

Invoice plus 200 is supplier pricing which is about 9.2% off MSRP. On a 60K car each % is 600 so 11% off would be about 1000 under invoice. Based on the spreadsheet pricing in 2015 in the stickys the difference between invoice and dealer cost on a 60K car is about 1700. No dealer will sell you a car for 2000 under invoice which is below their cost.

Best advice-- call a forum dealer close to you and negotiate off supplier pricing.

I dont think the car is truly $2000 under invoice.

Why dont you post up the dealer price offered and a link or pic of the window sticker?

We can get to the bottom of this with enough info.

It could be if the dealer is giving up some of his holdback money to the customer.

Run, don't walk to the dealer and get it. Great deal! Dealer is tired of floor planning it and wants it gone. You will love it.

I was thinking this. Math is messed up. I also think there's more money in these than people think. If they happily sell at 11% off MSRP then I figure 14% off is probably the true break even point. I think I've even read that figure on here before. So the dealer still probably makes $1800 on a deal like that. Maybe even more from a lease deal where they might get kickbacks.

No trade-in.

Actually, I'm waiting on the invoice information. By my calculations, the selling price should be $64,406.

I got that number from Kelly blue book. I might be backing the wrong horse using those numbers?

Thanks so much.

Thats a little over 10% off. You are not going to do much better. Stop hitting your head against the wall trying to pick up a few extra pennies and offer the guy 64,000 even. If he says no then try and get an accessory thrown in. Maybe if you work it 24/7 maybe you will save another couple hundred dollars but thats it and thats a big maybe. There is no more play without a GM employee discount. Get it and spend your time more fruitfully.

Oops just realized I did not take into account the 1000 price increase. So take off 10.2% from new MSRP and go from there.

GM supplier pricing on that exact build is $65306 (this price is pre $1000 price increase from GM).

Based off the word document you posted this car was built and stickered before the $1000 price increase.

So $2000 off invoice should be something like $63106 if my calculations are correct. If you can swing that deal buy immediately, dont haggle, dont ask questions.

Much appreciated for all the comments.

I suspect this must be a build before the thousand dollar increase because when I build it on the website it is at least $1000 more.

I think part of my problem is my favorite color is plaid.

Again, thanks.

[QUOTE=mpuzach;1589264960]Invoice on the car is $65,196.60.[/QUOTE

]

There was a dealer IMR contribution and an LMA group contribution of $709.45 and $500 respectively which led to the $66,406.05.

Much appreciated,

Jim
