C7 Z51 Nurburgring time??
Cant find it. Looking to buy one, so curious about how fast it is.
Yes, i do track my cars, yes i do go to nurburgring quite frequently. No, i prob wont match that time, but it'll give me a good idea. Had my c6z06 under 8min on street tires, as well as my m3(though modified).
If no official time, did anyone get it under 8 in street set up?

you can't find anything because there is nothing, for some reason GM either hasn't done a run or they refuse to publish the numbers. It seems really odd to me, perhaps the time they achieved isn't as good as they hoped, oh well, life goes on.

GM did run the C7 at the ring, however they have never published the time.
Some speculated it was because they thought the Z07 was the one that mattered and GM cared more about.

There are a zillion threads on this as well as interviews where Tadge explains the situation in Detail.
Do a search, read the replies and decide whether you want to believe it or not.

GM put the times in a time capsule that will be opened in 2115. Then we will know the times.

I spoke to Jim Mero at length in 2014, among others in GM when we went to Detroit for the private Z06 debut, and at the bashes...
What I learned was, the C7 was there more for validation and suspension tuning, among other things. While they did try some hot laps, the chances were few because of weather. From that point, with the Z06 in development, the very small team of Corvette folks focused more on that car it appears...and as was well documented by other people/manufacturers, the couple weeks they were there with the Z06 the entire track was never really dry, it always had wet/dangerous sections.
The issue is, Nurburgring is a great place to test, but it's not a great place to do these types of tests...there are just too many variables, on top of the fact that opportunity is limited. I PURELY wish that the Nurburgring replica that was proposed outside of Las Vegas, and discussed briefly would be built but...it'll never happen.

Tadge answered this at the Corvette corral Q & A at the Sebring 12 hr. Cars do not run alone on the ring and they have not yet had an instance where the track traffic allowed them a full 1-2 laps clear for full speed timing.

or this video?
You might notice, that in the above videos, Tadge says they were tested on the track using the FACTORY alignment settings. GM has said that with the C7 testing on the track, that they do not use factory alignment settings, but the "track" settings called for in the owners manual(that are not set at the factory). Makes me wonder how much better times the C6 Z06 and ZR1 would have been with non factory alignment settings.
Even found time to run the Z28 without track traffic
Even though they hit a little rain(but still was driving at 160 MPH), GM must have felt the time was good enough to turn over the video to the marketing/sales dept.

Correct, I guarantee you wont match GM's time unless you rent the track out yourself. Even on days off during the week I ran into lots of traffic on the GREEN HELL including tour busses and mini vans.

Quote from Acura when a prototype of the new NSX caught on fire during testing at the Ring.
"Acura can confirm that an NSX prototype experienced a fire today while testing at the Nurburgring. We make safety a top priority, and fortunately no injuries occurred. We are investigating the cause but as the vehicle is still under development, we're not in a position to share details. While an incident like this is unfortunate, the development of the NSX continues its progress toward its highly anticipated launch."
The various manufacturers don't just use the Ring to get a "hero" run in, after the car is in production for marketing purposes. They use the Ring in their development of their cars, before production starts.
Interesting article on manufacturer testing at the Ring...

[QUOTE=JoesC5;1589456852]The Ring is open to the tourists, but not everyday of every week of every month. It is closed to the tour busses and mini vans when manufacturer testing is being done, and most of the manufacturers test at the Ring. Even GM tests other cars besides the Corvette and the Camaro at the Ring. There is a video of them testing a 2016 Cruze(in Camo) at the Ring
Yes true that's the point I was making. They usually test on a non public track day (Track rented by manufacturers), although I have witnessed prototypes cruising the track on open to the public tourist days.
Thanks for the article

I believe a lot of people think that Tadge is watching the weather forecast in Nurburgring while sitting in his office in Detroit and if it looks to be clear tomorrow, has them load a Corvette, along with a stop watch, in a container and calls FedEx for an overnight delivery.
GM has a huge test center in Dudenhofen, Germany(128 miles from Nurburgring) that also has a test track. It even has high banked corners greater than Daytona and Talladega, that allow 155 MPH speeds with zero lateral forces. Of, course, they can run faster than that.
Not that big a deal for GM to run manufacturer testing at the Ring. Like others have pointed out, a blue Stingray was on the track with the Z28 at the Ring.

The one link posted with z06 running low 7, guy is running full slicks, full suspension work, and full aero kit (including gt3 spoiler, which makes night and day difference on z06).
My vid of an 8 min lap, with two accidents, cold track and some minor traffic (including a passenger, cd player mix up, street tires).

All that track testing and C7R design influence and they couldn't make a Z06 that doesn't overheat on a mildly warm day. No worries, just market it as the "MOST TRACK CAPABLE CORVETTE IN HISTORY..."
