Two People Killed in Another C7 Accident
With yet another fatal C7 accident this weekend, it’s getting harder and harder to dispute the arguments being made that perhaps there needs to be some type of performance course mandated for new C7 drivers.

Always sad to hear about any loss of life, but the reality is that people loose control of their Camry's and Accord's as well. This has nothing to do with the C7, and everything to do with the driver. In fact, the C7 is one of the most technologically advanced vehicles around, and will do just about everything possible to keep you in a straight line.

Good grief. A picture of Ron Fellows cars in the original post? Very misleading.

Do you have stats on how many wreck their c7 corvettes vs other cars?
It's awful that people have wrecked them and lost their lives, but your statement I quoted above is really strong, and at least one of your links is not even about a c7 other than that's what the guy was driving. Someone doing 80 in a 25 is ridiculous and probably unsafe (as there is likely a reason that 25 is the posted speed limit) no matter what car it is.

I think a course in common sense is needed. It seems that in most cases, drivers were going way beyond the speed limit when these accidents happened. I dont care what type of car you are driving, if you are going 80mph in a 25mph zone, the slightest error is going to cost you. Slow down people. If you want to drive fast, pay for lessons and apply those lessons to the track/course, not on public roadways.

With that said, I don't know the circumstances of this accident, but for someone to hit a tree and burst into flames...I have to assume there was some degree of reckless driving going on here.

A week or so ago, one member posted about the high number of C7 Z06 accidents. I asked him for figures and haven't heard from him since.
The last thing I want to see is government interference, ruling who can and who can't drive these cars.

Several brands of high performance cars out there. There just needs to be good judgment between the brain and the right foot.

Corvette drivers need a road course..... Haha! What a crock of ****!!!! I work in EMS and have yet to rolled up on a MVC that involved a corvette with injuries or death, hell I've yet to even respond to a MVC involving a corvette period....
It's always 18wheelers, pickups, mini vans, four door sedans and the occasional two door coupe (foreign crap or a V6 mustang)....
Regardless I hate to hear anyone pass away due to a MVC and feel sorry for the families of the victims.

Sometimes stupidity isn't the issue, it's a true lack of understanding. I guess that's some wisdom that isn't usually dispensed by redneck comedians.

I am surprised the government hasn't mandated a high performance drivers license yet. The government could make more money and impose more safety on the populace. However anything over 400 horse power can/will get people in trouble fast.

That is kind of like New York city limiting the size of a soda so people don't get fat.
People will do what they want bro. The last thing this country needs is more mandatory courses, licenses and such.

We all have to take a mandatory test and course to get a license. That people can't seem to abide by what they were taught isn't going to be changed by yet another class.

I've managed and run content management systems and I can't help but wonder about the people with publishing rights on this site.

Last month eight of us from Sacramento attended the two-day course at Spring Mountain that GM sponsors for new C7 buyer. I had a lot of fun learning how to drive this amazingly engineered car and hanging out with Corvette folks from throughout the country. Most important is that I learned the capabilities of the car --I now have a lot more confidence about driving this performance car.
I know some folks may not spend the time, travel budget and $1,000 course cost to go down to Vegas, but I would highly recommend taking this opportunity that GM is offering - I see this as a great perk that comes with the car and not a negative to go to a Performance Driving School. Great Opportunity - don't miss it!
