My 2014 has it's share of creaks and groans. Sort of like it's 63 year old owner.

But yes it's annoying all things considered.

Ok so I played around with it a little and can say for sure it's mostly coming from front passenger handle on roof. The other one doesn't make a sound put when I pull the passenger one it makes same sounds I'm hearing. I made an appointment with gm service next Monday to check it out. If can't fix it myself by then. Going to look in manual a little later see if I can find how Much to torque handles.

Been having the same problems. Took mine to the dealer and they did some sort of fix from GM, but the problem is still there.

I did that but did not stop creaks. Perhaps I did not use enough. Will try again this weekend. Seemed to fix creeks on my other car though.

No creeks or rattles on my C7.

We don't have enough data to determine if creaks and rattles are "normal" or abnormal on the C7.

What we do have is a few owners on this thread with some rattles, 2 posters that jumped at the opportunity, real or not, to diss GM and a lazy dealer who blew off a C7 owner by telling them the noises were "normal".

Does everybody have the stock fat rubber washer/whatever on their posts?

I ask because the first time I took my top off the driver-side rubber washer got stuck into the hole and I didn't notice it until I tried to put the top back on and it wouldn't go. I pushed and pushed and finally thought to take it off and look and I noticed the obstruction. Luckily it wasn't too damaged (just a little torn.) I put it back into place and of course the top went on the way it should. But it made me think that washer could have blown away while driving or fallen out and gotten missed and there is no doubt it would have created a problem.

Here's a link to a post about the roof creaking that contains photos of how to adjust the latches to tighten down on the roof. This is another avenue to pursue if the silicone lube or adding washers doesn't work.

Mine has zero creaking and sounds even better that I've added the Hushmat behind the seats.

No matter what you do, it will always creak. It's a matter of how often it does it.

Minimizing the creaks is done by using the grease and silicon on the pins and holes as well as liberally placing silicon on the weather stripping.

After doing all this, and reapplying as needed (1-2 years) on my C6 the creaking was brought under control. C7 should be similar.

From my C6 experience, if adjusted properly, the top will not make any noise. The C7 because it's stiffer should be even easier to adjust so it doesn't make noise. If it's making noise the dealer should fix it. I had to take the service manager for a ride to show him the noise my C6 made after a top replacement. Turned out the side windows were going up too far and somehow that made the top rattle. Been quiet for last 3 years.

Just curious is it possible that if the top is the issue if another roof was installed there wouldn't be a problem? When I take it to the dealer I want them to address a few things.

1 window may be going up too far causing the issue on passenger side.

2. Are the handles torqued to correct specs.

3. Will they install the o rings if I pay for them?

Not sure if they are O rings or E clips and what size and where exactly they go. I'll try anything its really annoying and I already did the grease and lubricant.

One possible solution mentioned for the c6 is not presented here and it worked for me. That is to get some shrink tubing and place it over the locating pins and then heat the tubing so it is snug. It worked for our 2008 very well and has been in place for 4 years. You can get the shrink tubing from electronic supply stores. I should note that we hardly ever remove our top.

I purchased the dielectric grease and applied it to the pins and hinges with no luck. So brought it in to the dealer today. They basically did the same thing with the dielectric grease and on the way home it creaked and popped a couple of dozen times. There was only a slight improvement. So back to the dealer tomorrow. I'm not giving up on a resolution so I'll update this thread with the outcome:

UPDATE: So back to the dealer the next day. Service rep let me speech to the mechanic. Brought him a printout of the thread that showed how to tighten the rear handle which has fixed it for some. He tightened it up but that didn't stop the creaking so he was advised by another tech to replace the the two front handles, but that didn't stop it either. The 30 minute ride home in 90 degress had it creaking when taking turns or when the car is pitched forward. Hard to believe the transparent roof panel is moving around. Hendrick's has been great with this. Everyone understands including me that this is a trial and error thing, and they're keeping the ticket open until it get resolved. I'll be bringing it back again.

Why would they do the same thing you just did that's pretty dumb lol did they mention tightening connector pins on the top? When I pull driver handle back and forth no noise. When I do same thing on other side there is a ton of noise and popping. I'll point this out to the dealer on Monday when I go. Let me know how yours turns out.

I'm even a bit leery of even taking off the roof with all the comments of creeks and squeaks I have read about after you do. Anybody remove the roof without problems later?

Anyone have any information on what size O rings or how they were used?
