You shouldn't have a problem financing for 2% or better for 60 months.

If you think the Coupe is much prettier than the Convertible, then you should start there >>>>Coupe

Mag Ride seems like a must IF you get the Z51 option. Z51 without Mag Ride may be slightly harsh for your wife. The standard suspension still provides a smother ride than a Z51 suspension with Mag Ride in most settings. You don't necessarily NEED Mag Ride with the standard suspension.
>>>>Z51 Option + Mag Ride
or
>>>>Standard Suspension and NO Mag Ride

Consider the Performance Exhaust. It makes the C7 sound like a Corvette should and the tail pipes are bigger and better looking. Over 85% of C7s are built with this option.

I seriously checked out leasing a Corvette but the numbers just didn't make sense. Credit Unions and some banks are offering below 2% on 36 month loans. If going for a longer term, you are probably looking at around 3-4% but still beats a lease unless you plan to trade in less 3 years or less.

That lease is a joke - 5.98%, 52% depreciation in three years, and the dealer discount isn't anything to speak of. I'd find another dealership and go for a non-Z51 'vert.

If I was ordering a new vette that wasn't a Z06 it would have to have:

Z51
Coupe
M7
Comp seats
Mag shocks
Performance exhaust
CF dash

That said - get what YOU want. What we like is largely irrelevant.

So delete the Z51 package, and drop down to a 2LT. You'll still have a great car, and save what, 10, 12K?

Default If You Were Buying Right Now...

Get the Base Vert.

I have driven with the top up exactly twice in the last two months. Nothing beats push button. Don't believe me just ask the coupe guys how often they really take the targa off. Not for a quick drive to work or to run a quick errand. Vert with the top down is sexy as hell. I almost bought a coupe until my friend reminded me how I like to drive with the top down even in winter with the heat on, windows up and now seat heaters.

I can go plenty fast enough to put an ear to ear grin on my face or get thrown in jail for reckless driving (probably not both at the same time) and cornering is a dream. Base all the way for non track use.

BTW - Torch Red with Kalahari looks awesome and a vert with this combo will have people drooling everywhere you go. I've lived it!

Unless you routinely drive at the limit (in which case you should take it to the track) you'll not miss the Z51 package on the street. At most, add the Z51 sway bars, but keep the stock springs, shocks and tires.

'vert all the way! Yes, there's less storage, but with the top up it's not too bad. Yes, the coupe looks better, but I spend more time IN the car than looking at it, and expecially with the top down the 'vert still looks fantastic. I can't believe how may comments mine gets. And a 'vert is just more fun 90% of the time.

Mag ride? Not needed on the street with the base suspension and tires. The car rides remarkably well. Better than my Miata. And the MRC option comes with the Z51 rims and tires, and the negatives those bring.

My 2 cents worth.

Your dealer is an idiot. Mag Ride adjusts with the drive mode, getting stiffest in track, softest in tour, Eco or Weather. I agree with him about it not being necessary on a street car, though.

By all means, custom order to get what you want. This is (at least for me) too expensive a purchase to settle for less.

Oh, and no, the Z51 has no impact on acceleration. Better fade resistance on braking, but the trade-off is huge amounts of brake dust on the rims, and unless you're driving really hard in the mountains, or on a track, you'll never get these brakes to fade even a little.
Best answer yet. My '15 DSOM is a 2LT vert with the Z51 pkg, A8, NPP. Right after the '16 Bash, if nothing really changes for '17, I will re order from Mike F. at Criswell. This time around, I will keep it simple. 2LT, A8 drop top. May be the new tu tone interior. That's it.

Heavy traffic hot weather I vote for z51 option. You can for 2016 get mag ride on standard car with z51 appearance pkg includes tires and wheels. If you buy all this just get z51 option maybe cheaper.

Performance exhaust
Carbon fiber dash
Red calipers
Transparent roof
Carbon flash badge package

After seeing how good the base wheels on the 2016s look I think I've changed my mind and I would rethink how I would order one. I would save a lot of money by skipping the larger wheel option with the magnetic ride control and just sticking with the base suspension and 18/19" wheels instead. I also think I'd save even more money by dropping down to the 2LT package instead of the 3LT.

So here is my revised "dream 2016 Corvette" now:

Torch Red coupe (non Z51)
Gray 2LT interior
7 speed manual
Silver painted base 18/19 wheels
High Wing Spoiler (body color)
Performance Exhaust
Carbon Fiber Dash trim
Carbon Flash Badge package
Transparent Roof
Red Calipers

Even though Torch Red is a popular color, I think the combination I've chosen would be a unique one with the rare gray interior and the rare high wing spoiler too. And as good as the base wheels now look, I still think a lot of people will either opt for the bigger Z51 wheels or will order the base wheels painted black (and I could possibly change my mind and prefer that route, but I haven't seen how the new wheels look in black yet but so far I love them in silver)

I was gonna chime in about this. Is this lease deal from a dealership or a loan shark?

Things we are wrestling with: Targa vs. Vert. Targa top is nearly impossible for my wife to take on and off. But the actual convertible sacrifices storage. Targa also takes away a ton of storage once it's in the hatch. Can't remove targa while driving, yikes. BUT most of all, targa rear end is SO much prettier than convertible. Just don't know what to do here. We've always owned convertibles...

Next Z51. No brainer right? Well we'll never race or be on a track. Financially, we can swap the Z51 for the vert. Hmmm. Will I regret not getting it?

Magnetic ride: honestly, this seems like a must have for my wife. How can I skip anything that would soften the ride for her?

I would say my must haves are the NPP, A8, and mag ride (in that order). I got a 1LT and I'm very happy with the interior/options. I love the targa but I don't have trouble taking it off.

I love that I got a Z51 even though I'll never maximize the features on a road course I'm glad they are there.

How is the slush box a must have? Half of us chose a manual.

This thread is about "your" must haves, so half of the people choosing manual really doesn't factor into my choice.

If you're asking why I chose my choice.....that's because I like to drive my car to work every day and I like to drag race it occasionally. I don't have the space or inclination to road race. I get sick of a stick shift in stop and go traffic and the auto is wayyy better than the manual on a drag strip. Check out the fast list for proof. Fuel economy doesn't suffer with an auto either.

Most of the M7 owners complain about the lack of throttle response, the shifter, and the torque management in the tune when shifting. None of those are a concern for me.

I would almost copy what I have now, a base 2lt with the carbon flash badges, black wheels and the only thing I would add would be to upgrade to a 3lt in order to get the spice red package. And change the color to the new Long Beach Red. I know that add about $8000 to the price , but damn its good looking!

"Slush box" is an old derogatory term used to describe auto transmissions many years ago that were clunky 2 or 3 speeds.
If we HAD to apply the term today to either the automatic or manual, given autos shift much faster than manuals now and auto cars are faster to 60, 1/4 and on a track, we should apply it to manuals.

Or just stop using the term altogether.

You NEVER tell a dealer how much you want to pay monthly.
