So I wanted to take my wife to her doctor's appointment about 20 miles from our house as an excuse to drive my C7 coupe. Targa top was off, and I checked 5 weather sites, all of which said 0% of precipitation for the afternoon. Radar looked threatening, but hey, 5 weather sites can't all be wrong, right?

All I can say is that at speed, even with moderate rain, you're gonna be dry in the cockpit with the exception of the water that flows off the windshield molding, right onto your shirt sleeves.

Mystery why we didn't put the top in the cargo area...old and forgetful, or optimistic, I guess.

No harm other than a little water on the door arm rests...sort of like riding a motorcycle with a windshield in the rain...the water just blows over your head.

Good excuse for a wash tomorrow anyway.

I've driven my Vert with the top down in the rain a lot.

As long as you can keep a fair amount of speed, it's no big deal. Just don't stop (or slow down enough) to put the top up, or you will get drenched. If it gets really heavy, putting up the windows helps to channel the water to the back deck, not your arm.

All I can say is -- absolutely unbelievable. Waited 68 years to get this car. Even the thought of driving it in the rain causes me pain. With the top off? Not even in my worst nightmares.

A C7 drives great in the rain, if there's no standing water. The tires will hydroplane if given the oportunity.

I refer to the "Raindar" Android app. It does a good job showing what's out there and put more faith in it than the weather reports. This time of year, when it's humid, the pop-up showers can happen anytime. So remember to bring your top!

I love driving my car in the rain. It has never shrunk or self destructed, just very comfortable and secure feeling.

It sure will! The ZR1 with Continental 335s does alot better.
Note to self: SLOW down in drenching/pouring rain in the C7.

While I prefer not to drive my C7 vert in the rain, it drives fine but I slow down and never drive aggressively when the roads are wet. Of course, when the roads are dry I adjust my driving style accordingly :-)

I have had several vettes over the years, many as DD when I was younger. Haven't had one melt yet.

Just getting ready to venture out on a day trip, as usual rain will be a consideration (we have the worst weather). Here in Central Pennsylvania if you don't drive your car in the rain, you will never use it. The weather mode is like adding extra stability and directional control, sensitivity of active handling system is enhanced. All cars will hydroplane under the right conditions and speed, just something to be aware of.

I never drove my C6 in the rain the entire time I owned it. I got rained on the 3rd time out in my C7, and no it did not melt.
