Who does their own Z51 oil changes?
Always change my own oil. Did all changes on my C6 z51. As well as my current 2013 Super Duty 6.7 power stroke diesel (13 quarts) I have a 4 post lift also, are they any computer resets of anything that only a dealer can do, codes, etc.

It is just like a c6 dry sump engine oil change. It is also very easy to reset oil life indicator, I believe the instructions are in the user manual. Put only about 9.3 quarts if you have a z51. I did my first oil change myself last week.

When I change my oil I don't have to wonder if some kid used the right oil, I don't have to wonder if he pre-filled the oil filter.
I don't have to wonder at all, because I will do it myself.
Oil change costs me about $30 bucks I think I can handle the loss.
A friend takes the oil I drain from my 3 cars and tractor, I take it over to him once a year he is very happy to get my nice clean oils.

I change my own oil, GM can keep their free oil and oil filters.

I don't have to wonder period, because I will do it myself as long as I am capable of doing it myself.
I'm not that hard up for a few free oil changes an oil change costs me about $30 bucks I think I can handle loosing $120 bucks.

Do my own Z51 so I know it's done right. First I run the car and get the oil hot. Then jack it up so the front is slightly lower than the rear so all oil is drained from both plugs. I push up on the hoses going to the dry sump tank to get that old oil out. While waiting for the oil to drain I remove the filter, fill with some oil and reinstall. Install the quality magnetic drain plugs I bought, lower the car, fill with 9 quarts of Mobil 1 from Walmat bought in 5 quart jugs. Then run the car get the oil hot and check the level after waiting 5 minutes but not more than 10. Put in another ~1/2 quart to bring it half way in the hatched area, which is a half quart under the full line.

4 post lift - do my own. Easy... Two drain plugs on the Z51. While the oil is draining is a good time to survey the whole bottom side for any road damage issues, leaks, seaps, drips or other issues that may require attention.

Also do my own. Fortunate to have a Corvette buddy near me with a nice drive on lift. Pretty much do what's mentioned above. If, for no other reason, but to have piece of mind that the change is done right and to do a complete check of the whole undercarriage.
While I'm typing this I'm wondering if there is a grease fitting by each rear wheel as was in the past? I will know in a couple of weeks.

Given the immersive training experience provided by frequently working on my C3, changing the oil in a Z51 is a snap.
Fwiw, I follow this technique for not overfilling the dry sump. Pour one qt from the second container of Mobil 1 into the emptied container--the 1qt mark on the container is a convenient reference point. After emptying the 2nd container into the car, I only have 9 qts in. For me, it is easier to be careful with the remaining amount, and avoid overfilling the engine.

All I do is block the wheels on my slight down slope drive.... jack the right side.... secure with jack stand and then slide under the car. So easy!!!
First oil change dealer cracked the rocker panel. When they asked how I found that I said I laid on my fat azz to see what you did!!! Feels better to slide my azz under the car to change the oil then have to lay down in their parking lot to look for incompetence.

Been doing the "baggie" thing for a while now. I usually use a small bathroom trash bag, though.
I also pick up as many jugs as I can whenever Mobil1 has rebates
And, the slope of my street makes for a perfect angle for my ramps. Takes about 30 minutes start to finish now.

Are those really FREE, when the maintenance is not done to your standard and worry about how your car was treated. Hence mechically no one touches my car, I do all the up keeps. If you do not have any ramps to use. Get a 2 X 12 X 10 treated board, cut in half and cut a 32 degree on one end and use them to drive up so you can get a standard jack underneat or just get a 3 ton low profile jack. Oh yeah, if you don't have the jacking pads, use shipping box and cut four pieces for the jack pad.

I did my own at 1000 miles, long before GM came out with the new 500 mile change interval but had the 2nd change done by a local dealer but ONLY after confirming the Corvette tech (small dealer, they only have one Corvette tech) would do the work AND that they would fill with 9 quarts and give me the 10th to top off when I got home. I won't need another change until next summer so I have no idea whether I'll do it myself or if I'll even have the car
