On a 400 mile trip with Eco mode on about 50% of the trip I averaged 31 MPG.

Ford Fusion, Lexus LS600h & ES350, Mercedes S400 hybrid, and the Toyota Camry Hybrid all have a .27 Cd.

Prius, Mazda3, Mercedes B-Class is .26 Cd, Peugeot 508 and Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is .25 Cd, and the Mercedes S-Class and the Tesla model S is .24 Cd. The Mercedes CLA is .22 Cd. Even the Nissan GT-R sports car has a .26 Cd.
Good point, but what is the difference in frontal area? Cd is not the only factor in the drag equation, and if C7 has less frontal area than these other vehicles it might have less aerodynamic drag over all.

Thanks for the info. It appears it can get good mileage on the highway but probably not in the city.

I don't understand why anyone would need or want a car with so much horsepower as you can't legally drive over 65 mph. Unless you want to be a danger to everyone like the guy that showed his speed at 161 mph.

With such irresponsible drivers, maybe the government should put some type of control on how fast cars can be made to go. I saw one posting where the writer wanted to know where he can buy a radar blocker so he can speed without worry of a ticket. These items should be banned by the government.

I see we have answered your questions and you have now moved on to expressing your personal big brother type opinions.

You need to move along and GTFO now, this is a Corvette forum not a Prius forum or a "we need more government" forum.

I don't complain about my gas to mile ratio, I enjoy every mile I get for each gal.. Since March this year I may of had mine in 7th gear 8 times so far & 6th gear has limited use, I love the sound of the exhaust I love the spirited ride from 1st to 5th, my car has had a quirk here or there but nothing that has any effect on its performance...Yes I love my VETTE. Sorry forgot the topic...I get 14-18mph average

I did 150 mile trip last week... and yes, the middle 100 miles, in eco mode, averaged 40.1 mpg.
Ave speed approx. 75 mph.

I was just curious to feel what it would be like to drive in that mode.
Really, with long range highway driving, you don't notice the difference.

I ave a 2015 2LT coupe with a 7 speed it now has 3300 miles on it.

I never saw less than 24mpg since I got this car, for a car this size I think the mpg is great, I could have spent less and bought a civic for a whopping 3 more miles to a gallon.

Satisfied your curiosity, now move along.

Not knowing any of the circumstances, awfully judgmental aren't you?

Thanks for stopping by.

It would seem the base coupe has more mileage potential than the
Z51 for these reasons:

Less aero and mechanical drag -no rear spoiler, smaller wheels/tires
Lower rear axle - 2.41 (vs 2.73)
Slightly less weight
No e-LSD pump to run

Thoughts on this folks ?

I don't ever get above 25mpg. Maybe because I actually hit the gas pedal

Overall I'm not complaining for the power it puts down.

The government should also ban tomatoes. 99.95984% of all criminals in the US have eaten tomatoes. If the gov't banned tomatoes we would eliminate crime.

I should run for office................

40 mpg? That seems a bit of a stretch. Most late model vette owners report mileage in the range of 28-33 on the highway.

The C7 is an outstanding economy car...............when you want it to be. I have a 2014 C7, 7 Speed, non-Z51 and have accumulated over 29,000 miles and have AVERAGED 25.1 mpg for the life of the car! This includes a lot of aggressive and local driving as you can see by the lifetime average of 37mph. Last year we took several trips where we did a lot of Interstate driving where we just put it in Econ mode and cruised in 7th gear. On straight and level stretches, we exceeded 40 mpg routinely. The best 25 mile average was attained in Southern Illinois on I-55 where it was level and we recorded 46.0 mpg at with the cruise set at 65 mph. Yes, I have seen people play games with the "instant" mpg, but the can legitimately record outstanding fuel highway fuel economy..............city driving............not so much!

Yes it's unbelievable how A high powered sports car that can do 0-60 in 3.7 seconds can get
40 MPG on A highway.Fantastic car.

In the end the CdA is what counts. The C5 had a 20.7 sq ft frontal area and the C6 is 21 sq ft, so I'm assuming the C7 also has the same frontal area as the C6. The C7 is wider but has a slightly lower roof vs the C6.

Now, a 2005 Honda Civic hybrid has a 21.9 sq ft frontal area and a .27 Cd so the CdA is 5.913.

The C7 with a .29 Cd and a 21 sq ft frontal area would have a CdA of 6.09.

The Honda Civic still beats the C7 aerodynamically.

Or a 2010 Prius with it's .25 Cd and a frontal area of 23.4 sq ft. It's CdA is 5.84, lower than the C7's 6.09.
