The difference in sound from my 2014 with NPP is very noticeable between T, S and Tr.

I'm referring to my 16 with NPP.

I don't want to hear what it sounds like driving by me, because no one else is driving it!

I'll try pulling the fuse, because I'm unimpressed with NPP so far, especially for the 1200 it cost me.

I want to hear this bastard from the drivers seat.
Put it in "S" mode and leave it there. That opens the exhaust. I will say that i bought an 08 that the 1st owner had done some work to.The NPP with HEADERS was quite a different sounding exhaust and much more to my liking. When I traded that car for my 13 GS I thought something was wrong with the 13 because at 1st start up I heard nothing!lol. Add a set of headers or buy a corsa exhaust...or BASSANI...lesser known but just as good as all the rest.

It's not the same. Florida2000 is right. Track mode with sound management on is the loudest, or most unrestricted rather.

Not sure how loud you want it go be. My neighbor tells me when I start up my C7 with NPP, it wakes him up in the morning. And my C7 is in a garage! I wouldn't want an exhaust any louder that that.

If by "turn on npp" you mean make it loud [almost] all the time, that's what the "off" setting does.

The '15 manual is wrong, on this any quite a few other things.

What he said was that if you turn it OFF it's loud in all modes, not just track.

2014 has three settings for sound management
1) off. Modes don't change tone but Rear flaps still close under certain rpm/load conditions to prevent drone
2) on. Changes with mode.
3) fuse pulled. Rear Flaps completely disabled.

Front flaps are for v4 and will trigger an engine code if unplugged

Don't know if they figure everybody who drives a VETTE is old and doesn't want a loud exhaust or they are just to cheap to ad a little gusto to the sound.... NPP is better then nothing, but not by much..lol. If you want a real kick, take a look at the stock C5 exhaust tips...there's a laugh ....

OP,are you referring to the dial settings?? My 14 3lt has T-E-S-TR....W...
GM has to conform to federal sound standards. Borla and other aftermarket companies are supposed to, but there's no enforcement.

I'm afraid that's not quite accurate. In 4th and 5th (in the M7), the system closes the valves below about 37 mph. That's 1700 rpm in 4th, but about 1200 rpm in 5th. This is done to pass federal sound tests. In 1st through 3rd, the valves don't close below 1700 rpm. The same thing happens in an automatic, but the exact transmission gears may be different.

I did extensive testing to document this. See posts 248 and 252 here: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1589742949

You can always just have an X pipe installed for a little more sound w/out doing headers or a tune. I loved the NPP sound (14, M7) and just ended up getting used to it and wanted a louder sound. I put on headers and an X pipe and had it tuned. Picked up a ton of hp and got the louder sound. The LT1 sounds quite a bit different imo than the LS3 did w/ headers. Maybe its the direct injection, I don't know but mine has a bit of drone in low rpm's (I did not have that on the C6) but is a very aggressive sound. If you want to wake yours up, you can go that route. An X pipe would be a fairly inexpensive way to get some more sound tho if that's all you are looking for.

Put LT headers on. That is what woke up my car. Like you, I found the C7 exhaust too tame. After headers, it is seriously loud even with NPP closed.

I had to pull the hatch carpet out to get some stains out. I drove it to work today and it was so loud, I got a headache. Carpet going back in tonight
