Google Play Music was the answer for me. No point in connecting things or inserting this and that. Use the car's Bluetooth and your phone and be done. You can upload all your stuff from Apple to Google Play Music and the playlists should still be there. That's what I did when I transitioned.

I purchased an iPod 64Gb and keep it permanently in the cubby - connected with a USB cable. I wanted to record/play my music in the apple lossless format. Believe me, the sound quality is very noticeably better with lossless format. The problem is the corvette can't directly play lossless format - so using a memory stick was not an option. Just go buy a new iPod.
