Well .. I know all about wanting things. Sometimes you get an idea in your head, and the idea takes on a life of its own.
Obviously, it's your choice. Who wouldn't want a new Z?
But ... do you drive your 'ordinary' C7 at the limits of its performance, and find it lacking? If not, what are you going to do with the extra 200hp?

The extra 200HP isn't wasted if you aren't at 10/10ths regularly. The car is quicker and better at all driving speeds. Getting onto an on ramp, gunning it from a stoplight. Everywhere. You just don't have to flog it as hard to get that grin going, and the piper limits are higher.

If you have the financial means to get the Z06, and it will make you happy, go for it. The Z06 is a beast.

Well, I've got a lot of soul searching to do. I own a 2014 C7 w/ Z51 package and 7M.Only 8000 miles and the car will be 2 in October. Love the car, and truth be told it's way more performance than I'll ever need. But, at the golf club this weekend, and a guy pulls up in a new VY Z06. That car looks absolutely incredible. I can't stop thinking about it. The wide body, bigger tires, it looks positively sinister. Now I want one, as much as I love my car. Makes no rational sense.

<p>This is an interesting thread.</p><p> </p><p>All of my car buddies said, "See Steven, we told you not to buy the first year of a new generation. You could have had a ZO6/ZO7"</p><p> </p><p>To be honest with you, I've spent almost 2 years modifying my car to really make it my own. I've very happy with it! 460 horsepower is more ponies than I've ever had anyway.</p><p> </p><p>The ZO6's are really a track car. If you have the monetary means with which to do it, make the change. You can always sell your car. But I'm VERY happy with what I have now. I don't need a ZO6....I'd always take more horsepower, but I know I don't use the 460 horsepower I already have. You have to be happy with what you've got. If you're not happy, make the switch!</p>
Personally I could not be happier with my 460 HP Stingray. It's one awesome driving machine, and I too, have this C7 just the way I want it.

If the money is insignificant, go for it. If not, think hard.

Now you know why the C6 GS killed the sales of the base C6. Plenty of people liked the aggressive looks of the C6 Z06 but didn't want the higher performance capabilities of the Z06(or the 50% higher cost). I'm betting that GM will come out with a wide body C7, but will not have the additional performance capabilities of the C7 Z06(and without the higher cost of the Z06), just like they did with the C6. It took five years for the C6 GS to be released, so that's probably about when GM will do a C7 widebody(non Z06).
I love the looks of the Stingray with the Z51 wheels/trim, but I also lust after the Z06 on looks alone. I'm thinking Longbeach Red with Jet Black Interior with red stitching. I just priced a 2016 and it came in at $103K with the options I want. If GM could provide a wide body version that looks just as aggressive as the Z06 and a HP bump over the Stingray at around $85K I would really consider it.

I would only move up to a zo6 if I fell into an incredible deal on it, the kind of deal that you would be dumb not to take.
Dropping another 20 to 30 grand and getting the same basic looking car, doesn't make sense to me, (I can make changes to the engine and get more power than the Z.)
Now if we were talking that ZORA, then I might make the move if I had the cash to burn at the time.

I wanted to get a Z06 at first but then I got an incredible deal on a Z51 2LT for 50,300$ with 1900 miles with extended warranty on it (Clean carfax) on it SG with AR, then I thought to myself it wouldn't make sense if I let the deal go and spend 30k to get the Z06. If i was still in the market I'd wait a couple of months and get a used Z06.

why I passed on the C6 and waited for the C6Z06....learned my lesson with the C5....modded the hell out of my base C5.....ok truth be told I would have modded the C5 Z too but you know what I mean

But just when you get a Z06, the Zora will come out. Then just when you buy the Zora, the C8 will come out. Then just when the.....you get it. After 10 Corvettes, I've learned to "just say no"!
